1956 Model?

This is a 1956 model refrigerator? I know it was bought before I was born (Oct. 1956 and is the only new refrigerator my mom had. I thought it was purchased in 1954. Yes it is the original finish and was part of an advertised special the local appliance dealer was offering. The only issue it has is one broken shelf support peg. Do you know how to replace the pegs?

I vividly remember seeing the yellow, pink, and turquoise colors. The front window had small appliances, mostly Hamilton Beach, were arranged unboxed on display. Dad surprised mom with a HB stand mixer that still runs with original bowl and beaters! She was expecting a hand mixer like her mother's yellow West Bend.

To MixGuy................

The '55 model had a completely different door. '56 and '57 had the aluminum panel on the front. The pins that you're describing are prone to breaking and that's why I never installed that shelf.

The shelf pegs can be glued back in but it doesn't guarantee that it will stay. The weight of the shelf items will probably bring it back down. Here's a picture of a '57 unit. Hotpoint lost the aluminum handprint panels midway through the year. Notice also the "Customline" badge on the freezer door. That was part of a deluxe series of appliances.
