Actually I think that filter looks pretty bad. I wouldn't be happy with it. The water of the last rinse is going through that filter, if you have a smelly dishwasher, you sure have the reason there. Use a longer cycle with hotter water and perhaps a different detergent.

BTW, congratulations on the new dishwasher Pete, at least the nightmare with the KitchenAid is over.

I just did a third express load today. I put my dirty stir fry pan in there along with the stainless steel frying pan that my man cooked two steaks in last night , so there was plenty of dried grease and stuck on steak remnants to contend with. Everything came out spotless once again.. Well there was one thing that didn't , the edge of my spatula that I used to make scrambled eggs with and I'm fine with that. I've never had a dishwasher that can get that off totally no matter how long it runs.

I’d just confirm how hot it gets on that cycle.

Everything will be fine for a while and then you’ll end up with a slimey filter and you’ll understand why Americans are anti filter.

If it’s not getting to at least 140f somewhere in the cycle, it will end up getting stinky.
