Outrageous Tide HE Pricing

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Washing for my baby boy (of nearly 14 ;-) I've found that Tide HE original scent is about the best cleaning detergent of all I've tried. I hated the Wisk, the Sears foamed in the rinse cycle with soft water. I like the powder well enough, but liquid is a bit easier to use for pre-treating and more even dispensing.

At Target last night, I saw HE Free, HE with Febreeze, HE w/bleach and two scents of regular HE - original and Clean Breeze. I'm glad to see there are more choices now.

The odd thing about the "Free" version was that it came with a free sample bottle of Downy whatever-it's-called in the Vanilla-whatever flavor. (can you tell I pay little attention to softeners?) I thought that was a little silly - buy a detergent free of dyes and perfumes and get a bottle of perfume with it. "Here's a free rash - P&G loves you!"

I have seen Tide HE---P and G is an anomoly--SA8 still fabul

I am not a user of Tide, however,I always notice how much they sell it for, just our of couriosity, I have seen the Tide HE liquid at Costco for 20 bucks. It was the biggest one that I have ever seen. I know that I have seen it at Walmart for 5.99-6.99, although, with the cost of fuel going up, so the cost of everything else right along with it.Safeway is by far the highest, i think anyway, on just about everything anyway.
Greg. P and G is funny like that. I am really afraid of using Tide, that was the trigger for my last episode of hives when I went to visit a friend in Idaho and slept in a bed washed in Tide,I just play it safe now, I have very sensative skin, the sensative Downy spells like bug spray, that would be nice to cuddle up with, I have more often lately opted not to use fabric softener,I never thought that I would ever do that.
-------SA8, from what I have been told is a little cheaper than tide per use because you use so little. As far as the Persil, it is by far the most expensive at 45.99 a box, I love the smell, although the new SA-8 smell has become my new favorite, and it can make it though a boil wash just as well as the Persil, and it is HE. Better for the tub bearings.

ROFLMAO!

It’s so true, they probably aren’t thinking. My hunch is that in their heart they can’t possibly believe that there *are* people who don’t want their laundry to be perfumed at the end of the cycle, so the only explanation for buying a perfume-free version of the detergent is that it clashes with the perfume of the softener -- that would also explain why they sometimes sell Tide with the same Downy perfume. Also, I’m willing to bet that if people caught a rash from that combo, P&G would be happy to sell them something to alleviate it from their other divisions. ;-)

It depends on what the perfume's like. I don't mind citrus and other 'clean' smells, but I really find some of the overpowering floral scents are very unpleasant and lingering.

Also, I can't stand the smell of fabreeze or bounce.

This is possibly why I far prefer Unilever's detergents over here!
Persil powder's fairly inoffensive and their liquid small and mighty variety's smell is very uplifting and sort of citrus.

Persil Powder + Comfort Pure gives me the kind of smell I like - clean, very slightly scented laundry.
