On Episode 217 (1/27/1971) of The French Chef, La Julia trusses the dickens out a chicken and roasts it in an Open Hearth Rotisserie.
Then (at 23:45 in the YouTube video), she goes to the wall oven and pulls out an already-cooked chicken, which she has roasted on some sort of electric rotisserie apparatus. It looks like the contraption attaches somehow to the oven rack, and then the cord comes out of the oven into an outlet in the wall. I think this little rotisserie might be designed to work in any oven, which would be really handy. Then again, it might be something uniquely designed for this particular oven.
I have posted a screen shot below, but it’s a lot easier to see the whole thing in the video, which I have linked.
Has anyone ever seen one of these things? Is it for general use, or brand specific? I’ve been curious about this for years. If I could find something like this that would adapt to any oven, I’d buy it in a hearbeat.
