P&G again considers cheaper Tide

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Scum & Build-up

Happens whenever you use any sort of tub type container for bathing/washing. Just think of bathtub tide marks or similar lines around sinks after doing dishes.

In theory good dosing of cleanser (detergent) should keep this down to a minimum but you wouldn't go ages without cleaning your bathtub or kitchen sink would you?

Tide Ultra

Have an older box of the stuff from circa 1980's (scroll down link) and while one does love the scent, careful dosage is needed for use in front loaders. In the Miele can control sudsing to some extent with defoamer, however that does not help in rinsing what seems to be a good amount of Zeolites and soda easily.

Tide Simply Clean & Fresh

I came across the two new Tide formulations while browsing through homedepot.com. These are in the same mold as the usual Tide containers, except they're yellow.

Interestingly, they are not yet launched on Tide.com.

The first scent is Tide Simply Clean & Fresh - Refreshing Breeze.

I really don't see..

much of any savings... I mean regular Tide Liquid bought at a local Walmart or Target would be .18 cents a load, while there new "Simply Fresh & Clean" is only .11 cents a load.

That pricing guide, is about the same as there MOL (Middle of Line) Detergent offerings, think Cheer, Gain, Dreft, etc. I'm curious to how different the formula is though.

It'd probably loaded with Sodium Citrate (as the Builder & Water Softener), Some Alcohol Surfactants, and maybe 1-2 enzymes (instead of the normal 5).

I'll see what a call to P&G nets, soon :)

I

found the Oxydol powder also at Family Dollar in the $5 box. I love it. I called Oxydol and they told me they only made these big boxes of it for Family Dollar period. So, I went back to Family Dollar and stocked up like an idiot just in case it is also discontinued. Good stuff for me. I used to use plain Tide and feel this works as well. Just my opinion.

I picked up a box of

Spring Magic, Ultra Fab Powder, for $1 and some change at Wal-Mart the other night. I opened the box tonight, and wow... the scent is really strong. I'm not gonna say I hate the scent, I kinda like it, but, if you smell, or just open the lid, it hits you in the face.
