Pan Tablets for HVAC Equipment

I reviewed the product once so now I get questions from prospective buyers. It is basically a copper compound to inhibit algal/fungal growth. This is the question I received from Amazon this AM:

I clicked on the "I'm not able to answer" response. I could not figure out if they thought that the humidifier was going to forcibly eject the tablets, turning them into projectiles, or if the tablets were going to create a poisonous mist.  I think this person is in a class of technological capability with the computer user who thought that the CD player tray was for his coffee mug.

I think you're being a wee bit critical here...if they were like denture cleanser tablets (somehow fizzy) you wouldn't use them while the unit is on, and there are lots of pesticides etc which require spaces to be vacated before use...room foggers, for instance.

I told what they were. They slowly dissolve over a period of weeks to months. Pan tablets are not fizzy; they add copper to the water to prevent plant growth. Most people have never used them and it shows. They probably should only be available through the trade.

I bought a bottle of said product-type (probably not the same as you have) but haven't yet tossed some in.  Crutch is I have to go up into the attic, climb over a bit of structure and over the horizontal blower/coil unit to take off a panel on the the other side to access the condensate drain tray.  HaH in summer months.  I'm kinda vaguely considering replacing the 15yo builder-grade system this fall or next spring and kinda vaguely figured I'd start fresh with it.
