Panasonic INDUCTION Toaster Oven Debut

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Panasonic was also rumored to be working on an all-cookware induction cooktop, i.e.: if it's gas or electric stovetop safe, it should work, including vitroceramics (CorningWare Pyroceram, Visions, Arcoflam, Pyroflam) and non-ferrous metals.

"Induction needs a magnetic opposing pole polarity in order to make heat.

Supposedly, everything has a resonant radio frequency at which it can be induced produce heat.

Or something like that. The trick with non-metallic materials is finding it without causing a meltdown or catastrophic failure, i.e.: "It blowed up real good!" Containing it so it doesn't cause glassware nearby to heat up is something else entirely.

"Overhere we have "induction adapters" for that.

Maybe that's what they have in mind. The radar detects glass and moves the interface plate into place under the cooktop glass.

And if the radar is smart enough for that, it should know when someone's hand is resting on one of the cooking rings and refuse to turn on at all.

joe,

too complicated. More moving parts, more weight, more cost, more to fail. Even f a piezo motor can move the disk in place.
The Dutch have it right already!

Induction adapters completely defeat the rapid response of induction hobs and renders it not better than radiant heat ceramic hobs.

Joe,

Excellent! I've been wanting an induction burner. What is the brand of yours?
How old is it?
I don't think the Nu-Wave is made to last. Some out there are not even fan cooled.
With one, I can cook in my cast iron dutch oven all day and save on gas.

The WP is nice and big.   Pricing to be announced on the Panasonic.  What $$ are we talking?  I may of missed the info, the WP would require a special 220 or whatever circuit?  The safer cooktop and  oven are no brainers for our senior population.   Thanks to everyone that posted links.  I really need to go to the next home show.

Vacerator,

It's a Max Burton, 1600 watts. I bought it right before it was replaced by an 1800 watt model. Amazon sells the even nicer stainless steel shrouded one for less than I paid for the old all plastic 1600.

I have to use it until it wears out. Married man, you understand.
