So I have been running Panda Internet Security, Panda Dome.  I have seen ads on TV for Lifelock with Norton. Years ago I got away from Norton because it kept messing up the Windows. Now I have an offer for 50% off Panda to extend my protection. Does anyone have opinions about this? Is Lifelock with Norton the best way or is there a better way? Thank you all.

I can't answer from longevity.  But I just got in the last month Norton 360 with LifeLock Ultimate Plus and includes VPN.  Customer support has been outstanding.

Your first clue is "ads on TV".  Guess who pays for those?  And who they're aimed at (not you).

Clue two is, what Symantec products do to Windows.  And it's almost impossible to fully delete the damn stuff.  It's been said, not without cause, that Norton AV is a virus itself.

I've been online 20yrs with no AV and no problems.  Even in the days of a dozen virus emails a day.  Just a firewall.

"Serious" or new/uncataloged viruses can get through no matter what you do.  Like triple-locking your door, a determined intruder can still get in.

So, since there's no such thing as 100% security and Norton is like a slovenly college roommate who 'stopped by to visit' 10yrs later and stayed 6 months, I'd just say no.

Thank you very much. I am just scared as hell of ransomware.

Best suggestion is set up an automatic weekly backup of anything you deem important.  If you have an issue then wipe the computer reinstall OS and restore.  Might be time consuming, but the best defence if you are really worried about loosing something.  Quicker method might be setting up an imaging back up and simply restore the last image.
