Panic averted in the detergent aisle at Target.

On a weekly trip to Target, I ambled down the laundry detergent aisle and couldn't find a single value-priced HE detergent among their peers.

"Damn!" I thought. "Just like Stater Bros. market, where the ONLY HE detergents they carry are the overpriced big brands and their own house brand that's overpriced, too!"

Happy ending: all of the HEs are now shelved together. Wisk triple-concentrate is $3.99 for a 32-load bottle, 40 cents less than All Small N Mighty HE. I grabbed a couple of the Wisk and will report back after a few loads.

I like it when the HE detergents are grouped together. A nearby WalMart used to do that, but recently they've started to mix them all together. Why they chose to do that, I'm not sure. Maybe they sell more HE that way----more people may inadvertantly grab a higher-priced bottle of HE in a moment of mental abstraction...

Brands have to vie for and usually pay for shelf placement and exposure. I would imagine the brands being grouped together would be easier to find for those loyal customers.
