I just wondered what your take was on whether or not companies should be using recycled fibers versus virgin fibers when making paper towels, tissues, toilet paper etc.

To the best of my knowledge,

most goods like paper towels, bathroom tissue, facial tissue, copier paper already have a substantial amount of "preconsumer" recycled content already.

As for postconsumer recycled content, it's a bit more challenging, but it IS being done.

Not just eco brands like Seventh Generation, but brands from Scott Paper, Kimberly-Clark, P&G, Georgia-Pacific, Marcal.........

I am sure that some Really Helpful Person will be able to quote Actual Statistics.

I use paper towels, but with some forethought, and not with the abandon of years gone by. However, for microwaving bacon, I can't think of a better cover for the spatter while letting the steam out.

"Should?"

It is a very lovely thought and practice, if you ask me.

Like everything else in the business world, when it is economically more feasible to do so, rather than use virgin fibers, it will be done.

And you can be sure it will be given a "green" spin and thus consumers will be emotionally toyed-with on this currenlty "hot" issue.
