Beautiful, just beautiful! They definitely fit in the "low mileage minty fresh" category. I'm glad they're working (though it came as no surprise to me since they're Maytags), now onto the cabinet/top panel/control hood swap! They will be in the basement (and the new Element back in the garage) before you know it! ;-)

very lovely, yes. understated, workman-like design. but, am i the only one who DOES NOT think they are SUCH a mis-match as is? they go well together. the washer has a solid-vane agitator?

More Options on Dial than Button Washer?
Did the button only washer have a soak that one could time? Or a soak only and then wash or hold? I think the pushbutton A906(or this era's counterpart) was sexy as hell, but you were locked into your selection and modification was difficult. I think is is good to have control over the cycle to advance, stop, change the spin speed based on what you want to happen, not just based on a fabric selection. I think what you have is better, and more optional than the matching pushbutton only washer. The dryer is the best,too, love it! CONGRATULATIONS!

This is my current Maytag set in use. I will use this washer panel on the pink machine and have the pink pushbutton set where these are now.
This is the other side of the room for the curious, I haven't posted pics for a long time of the laundry rooms.

but i can tell for sure, my mother would have loved a machine like this. if she wanted a soak, she raised the lid. extra rinse? start it up again after its finished. and she always set it to 10 mins, always. and always regular action, never gentle. never used perm press. i think with a little more options (buttons), this machine could suit many people.

Well a simple peak in the average basement reveals a complimentary set in white. ;o)
My complimentary set is out on on repair now.... be back soon....yeah.
But yours are sweet. Switching the panels is "tolerable" under those circumstances since it is only the color.
And yes bee-u-teeful they are. The pushbutton Maytags give the impression they can wash ANYTHING with confidence.
But, without the "return sock option", oh darn. I had that feature on my 1978 GE MOL large capacity Harvest Gold filter-flo washer. That was years ago. They just don't make 'em like they used to. Todays return sock option feature is just so flimsy and only comes in white on TOL machines. blah, blah

Are you going to re-assemble the center-dial into the downstairs donor machine? Looks like that will still be a nice set then too.

I know this may sound weird to some of you but I actually prefer the panel that's on the pink machine now over the pushbutton. I love the illuminated rotary Maytag knob, especially with the 4 and 2 minutes in red letters.

Greg - those are beautiful machines! I love those push buttons too and the writing on the buttons... very retro, and definitely worth having to de-ice your car for!
I presume you will be putting hte dial control panel on the white Maytag, and therefore have a pushbutton pink set and a dial control white set?

I will have an extra set of white Maytags (with center-dials) when I'm all done. I have no room to keep them so I will have to find an adoptive parent for them at some point.
