Hi, Im Jane, and I found this forum while searching google for information on a Parnall Autodry.
I lost my Dad last year, and he was quite a hoarder. Now it’s time to go through his house and life and I am finding all sorts of weird and wonderful things, many very old. Tucked away under the stairs, there was a Parnall Autodry, which I was originally going to keep for myself. I do love the things from my younger days.
I would love to be able to keep his house as is, it’s Dads house, but I know that’s not possible. And I would love to keep all of his weird and wonderful things. But I have to move from where I live and I am moving into a very small flat. Which won’t accommodate a tumble drier. It won’t even accommodate a washing machine!! So I was wondering what to do with all the things that have history, including the tumble drier.
I have heard of ebay but I am clueless how to use it. And I want his things to go to people who appreciate the history of his things. Could anyone suggest where I might be able to sell the drier. It still works too. I am just struggling with knowing what to do with all his “vintage “ items, there’s a box of cameras, 2 sewing machines, alot of tableware fabrics and doilies, books, I could go on and on! Even tins of buttons I don’t want to go. I don’t want everything to end up in landfill, but don’t know what to do with his things. If I could afford a storage unit I would keep everything!! I have considered it, I may need a small unit for some of my own hoard if I can’t bear to part with some things, but I have to consider costs, especially as I am moving in a month. I have sisters who don’t think the same as me, and there’s pressure on time. Not just from them, I have to pack my own house ready for the move….
