After unsuccessfully trying to remove my agitator with an Agi-Tamer and realizing that I'll never be able to fix the leaking tub, I must reluctantly let my 1970 Lady Kenmore washer 110.7004802 go. I've removed a lot of parts that all were working perfectly including, motor (new as of 2002), upper console, lower wiring harness and anything else I could get.

I'd be happy to donate these parts to anyone who could use them to restore one of these wonderful machines. All I would ask is that they take all of the parts as a group and pay for packing and shipping.

Let me know if any of you folks would want these parts and I'll compile a list. If I don't get a response from anyone by 6/1/12, I'll have to dispose of these parts.

Thanks to all for this wonderful forum!

agitator removal

Agitamers dont GD work.Pour blasting hot water on the agitator spline and rap it with a hammer and they usually come off.If not break the agitator off with a hammer and chisel another agitator can certainly be found.Tub leaks are easily cured with clear GE silicone.Dont give up you will be glad you did I know those machines well and there is nothing like them.Is this a roll top lk or regular pushbutton?Somebody might want the whole machine sounds to good for parts, could you post pics?

Agi Tamer

I've never used one myself, but its a "balloon" style sac that fits under an agitator. Water is then pumped in, forcing it to expand and pop! off comes the agitator.

I agree with Kenny. Always had success with them. I broke one once but it was my own negligence. They are usually VERY helpful. When I "tamed" the vari-flex out of my 72 Lady, I had use hand soap as a lubricant to get the agitamer under the skirt.

Agi-Tamer Failure

The only time I have ever had an agi-tamer fail, it turned out the previous servicer/owner used a product like jb-weld because the splines had been stripped.

HI JB, I Ssent you and e-mail 26 hours ago (yesterday @ 3:30) and am still waiting for a reply.  Is your listed e-mail address correct?

I'm 30 miles south of you and may be interested in some of the parts.

Thanks!

I have an Agitamer obtained for the express purpose of battling the agitator on my A906, but I've not been able to get the thing slipped in place, even lubing it with liquid detergent.

agitamers

The two times we tried one it didnt work or bent up the agitator. If it worked for you more power to you but I have always had better luck pouring hot water on them.

Tub leak

If the tub has rust holes, JB weld or other epoxy works good. A small piece of plastic can be used to bridge a hole when using epoxy. I like it better than using silicone for holes. Silicone works good for gasket surfaces, particularly on corroded metal. Maybe our friend with the harvest gold Whirlpool might like the cabinet?
