I get the feeling that some of the people in this club care only about there collections an not necessarily about anyone elses. I understand not giving up bits and pieces that are one of a kind and hard to find. But if there is extra just cluttering up space, I would gladly give it to someone who wanted it.

Tell me it aint so!

This has not been my experince. I have witnessed and been the conduit of so much generousity. What amazes me the most is watching some of the most valuable items in a member's collection given to someone else because the giver knows the joy recieving it will bring.
If there is some you need that I have or can help you find, it is my pleasure to do that.
Kelly

Yes , there are generous people in this club.

I know there are members who will give whatever they can, and I am sorry if I have offended anyone.Sincerly Speed Queen GKC.

No Offense

I am not offended and for goodness sake, we all need to get a bit thicker skin, myself first, in being so sensitive to everything posted or feeling we have to reply to it all.
Now who's the no good fall in a ditch whose hording your filter. We'll go put sugar in their gas tank!
Kelly

Enough already....

I think this is a great site to let people know what pieces and machines you are looking for. I have posted many requests and have found the folks here to be very generous. You have posted over and over about the Speed Queen lint filter and now you are accusing the folks here of hording their parts because you still don't have what you are looking for. This is a very rare part and they are not plentiful! That doesn't mean people are hording, it means the few that have them want to hang on to them. Do the math! I promise you that if I find a lint filter you will be the first one I call, but in the mean time give it a rest.

But seriously Kevin, with all due respect, you haven't really been INVOLVED with the club enough to really warrant someone giving you anything in the first place. 99.9% of your posts, both current and previous, have been "I want, I want, I want", and your incessant, monotonous droning about that damn SQ lint filter has caused most of us to just skim over and ignore your posts. You have a cool control panel/filter collection, and mention about having a couple of vintage GEs and a Speed Queen set. I know the rest of us would really like to see pictures of them, both resting AND in action washing a load. Start growing a little personality on here, and comment on everyone's threads! I'm sure everyone would appreciate it! You'll find that we're really a great group.

Best Club Ever

I have recieved incredible insight, inspiration, and most of all, practical information on getting parts on restoring and keeping great vintage appliances as working peices of art. I have not been a constant contributor as I am only beginning my collection, never been to a wash in, but the treatment I have received here from all the members has been superb. I can't imagine anyone hording anything. Phil

Speedqueengkc, these vintage machines are VERY VERY rare and VERY hard to find. I have been collecting for 25 years and have found only 5 machines that I have searched for and 2 of them came from members here. Our members here are very willing to help others. Here is a piece of advice though, we are more willing to help if you ask with kindness than insults!

Kevin

I STRONGLY disagree with you! I have not been a member that long but I have seen very much kindness and much help given by all and to all. This group is a VERY careing and if holding on to a part that one thinks he might need in the future is hording then we are all guilty of that, however I think that just shows good foresight.

Attitude Makeover

Kevin:

I have seen your posts before, and it seems that you have only been using this site as your own personal classifed ad. Have you ever engaged in discussion on any of the forums? Have you gotten to know the members and shared in their appliance experiences, laughter, and tears?

For you to assume that because no one has eagerly shown up on your doorstep with Speed Queen filter in hand, therefore, they must be "hoarding" parts, is rude and presumptious. There are many generous members here who have provided parts, manuals, and know how; often times at no cost other than postage.

Your attitude has not exactly endeared anyone to your search. Perhaps it's time for you to change direction; start networking instead of demanding.

I need to concur Kevin, the generosity of many in this group is stellar. When I revealed the '57 Kelvinator set to the group and it was lacking for parts, several members came to the rescue for which I am so grateful. The washer is "almost" brought back to life! (When it happens you will all know). But do join in the group if you want to be part of us. You don't have to post on everything but chime in now and again and let us know who you are. We'd love to see pictures of your machines too so maybe start with a picture thread....

e.g. for ME! - They did it for nothing!

Rich (trainguy) - tons of Frigidaire parts

Steve (Gyrafoam) - too many to mention, including, but not limited to whole machines.

Jimmy (Filterflo) - tons of free advise, and a bleach cup/cap for my Rollermatic.

Chris (christfr) - burnt keyboards out sending me so much information on help with my washer.

There are more folks who came to my rescue, this is just an example.

ALL CLUB MEMBERS (aw.org) - New Friends!

Best club ever !!!

I must put in my 2 cents on this and say that this club and it`s members have been a major help in advice,Parts and knowledge for me. I hope someday to be able to pay back some club members with parts or advice that have been so good to me ,until than Keep up the good work guys this club is the best !!!

I need to speak here

I have never been a group up until automaticwasher.org where I have personaly met or come in contact with via email so many great and wonderful people, who without even being asked on my part, are willing to extend effort and their time in the areas of guidance and direction, parts and all of the time and most importantly just plain ole' support.

I feel guilt at times as I am not able to respond to more threads than I do but I want you all to know that I'm with you all in spirit with your new aquisitions and ever growing collections.

You all as a group are super and have been a major source of inspiration and encouragement to me when I get bogged down.

I just wanted to express my thoughts to all of you.

Bitter, party of 1

I have to disagree with SQ whats-his-name up there at the top too. This is the most giving, fun, generous & caring group of folks.

Ya needs ta git aways frum dem Mormons thar n YouTaw, they beez keepin' yar frum havin' gud timez. LOL

Generous Members

While still a relative junior member and collector of vintage washing machines, have found many members of this group generous over and above the call to duty.

When my first vintage find, a Hoover TT needed a pump, a members helped direct me to various sites, and another member even sent me some parts including a pump all the way from Oz!

You get out of any thing what you put into it, Mr. SpeedQueen. All one sees of your posts is mainly "Buy Me, Bring Me, Take Me, Send Me".

If you bothered to read the archives of the group, you will see many exchanges of parts and such between members. However that is not to say just because I happen to have a "Vintage Speed Queen Lint Filter" laying about, would part with it for you or any other member. Vintage appliance parts are hard to come by and often either Lady Luck or sheer effort plays a key role in finding them. If you noticed there are many members with their eyes always peeled for "something". They go to estate sales, thrifts, crawl though basements/attics/old stores covered in muck and god only knows what else, to find something that probably hasn't seen the light of day since D-Day. Why should someone after spending all that effort on a "find", just give it away to you? True many members will pass along things they do not need, but that is their choice, not your due.

My thing is trolling eBay, and am happy to pass along links here in the group to items I think a member may want. It may not be much, but only trying to help in my own way.

You want parts? May one suggest you make a little more effort and less time picking on the group. The later is counter productive anyway, as even if a member has what you are seeking, they may be less inclined to do a deal with someone who seems very self centered.

Rant over, we now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

I have to agree with the group, here...

I haven't been a member for a very long time, and the kindness from everyone here is incredible.

Nate/roto204-sent me a motor for an appliance JUST because he knew I needed one.

Greg/gansky1-emailed me a phone number I'll never be able to live without again, when he knew I needed hard to find parts...

Just about everyone else-has selflessly spent time answering questions I have posed to the group from time to time....

I cant say thank you enough, to everyone. I've never spent better time online.

I have been a member here since 2001. I have never met a nicer more caring group of friends than I have here. I will never forget attending the first wash-in that Robert had. I knew know one there and wondered just what I was getting into. From the minute of my arrival I knew this group was going to be one of the best things that ever happened to me. Robert I thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating this family for all of us. Terry
