Spotted today on Reddit's main trending page, yet again:

I get the feeling more and more people are waking up and asking for simple EM controls on their appliances instead of complex electronics. I feel like if enough people catch on, we will turn the tide. Perhaps our discussions on AW.org are paying off and people are taking notice. The return of simple EM controls will pave the way for longer lasting easy to fix no nonsense appliances that provide better results overall. Everyone will benefit, not just those who have nostalgia for vintage appliances.

My niece recently replaced her older Kenmore with an LG. The installer said to get her Smart Phone so she could work it from her phone. I would never consider that unless you just activated it and then it put the hamper full in the machine, added soap, ran the cycle then automatically put all the clothes in the dryer, folded them nicely ready to be put away.

Smart this, smart that!......
I saw this trend when TV sets started to become "Smart Sets".
And today, it's all about "download the App" crap.
Everywhere you turn, you're shoved another "app", or those recent "QR codes".
It's supposed to brainwash you into thinking it all is some form of "convenience" or a time/energy saver.
Bull!

Yes, I've noticed the growing amount of people desiring "vintage" stuff.
In the shop, I've had people come in with their old, adored stereos for repair.

However, This "smart" product stuff in my honest opinion, is not a normal way to live, wrapped up in a cellphone!
Depending on that little device for practically everything you do, want, or buy.
It's just not normal!

Corporations that push this evil on the public want to keep control of you, and a lot of it is pure bullcrap too.

My TV set is a "dumb" set.
So are all my appliances.
I refuse to succumb to what the masses have bought into.
I love my independance, my freedom that I was born with.
