Persil Discs

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Amazon has them for sale with a ship date listed as April 6th.

Hopefully they toned the scent down. I don't mind the smell of Persil, but the Power Caps always were really strong smelling.

Have found with all Persil Gels/Liquids

Key to controlling scent post wash is to use just enough to get the job done and no more. This plus good and careful rinsing seems to knock out enough of the whiff so one isn't bowled over.

Hate using scented detergent for dress shirts, but so many are coloured these days and nothing else in my stash works as well in warm or cool water besides Persil color gel. For certain linens that one wants washed in cool or warm water, again the "American" Persil works well in terms of overall stain removal and cleaning results; just can do without the powerful ever lasting smell. So again have learned to use smallest amount and rinse well.

Happily all Persil liquids/gels from Henkel are very concentrated. About 15ml to 25ml is more than enough for a full 11 pound wash load with our very soft tap water.

My husband loves Persil but....

Since I tried it and had "THE" SUDSLOCK OF MY LIFE (i mean, i literally had suds squirting out of the air vent on the roof and had to rinse like 20 to 25 times in the magic Chef top loader using almost a whole bottle of downy to try to cut the suds down, NEVER AGAIN IN MY LIFE!

And i had used "only" 1 1/2 capfuls.

It reminds me a vintage movie, I don't remember the title... I vaguely remember one of the characters had a strange looking car with 3 wheels and there was a party in a place that had a large fountain. suddenly the fountain starts filling with suds.

I love Tide because if an emergency happens, i just need a capful of Downy to cut the suds (and of course rinse 1-2 times more than my usual 3 rinses.)

Dosage instructions for Persil liquid that I have states 2 oz for a large load (which accordingly calls for less for smaller-than-large loads).

The cap holds approx 5 oz.

Presumably Thomas was being facetious ... or not?   :-)

... and I NEVER follow the dosing instructions.
Except in front loaders, if the washer doesn't look like a nice bathtub with lots of bubbles that's not good enough for me.

The only detergent I use and I don't panic if I don't see that giant suds cake is the Rosalie's Zero Suds.

I love that thing!

Kevin saw me dosing detergents (and he would have grabbed be by the neck and punched my face) but he was too shocked to have any reaction.

One thing I do to tame the aroma or scent of a detergent is use Borax. Just a small quarter cup will tame the scent so it’s very tolerable. I love the scent of Persil Original Deep Clean liquid anyways but as I said the borax does tame it some. Try it!
The other thing with Persil is that a little goes a long ways. I never use a capful, always just a finger’ s width and under the ring that screws onto the bottle. Anymore and it’s suds for days. The way I dose will rinse clean every time...

Cannot use disks or pod in the AEG Lavamat; darn things just won't dissolve totally (likely due to the puny amount of water used for washing). Thus find bits of plastic or whatever stuck to one's wash when cycle is done. That or product isn't fully dissolved/dispersed until well into a very long cycle.

Suppose if one under loaded the washer things might be better....

I agree Laundress...Tide pods have issues dissolving. I know in my LG washer they dont seem to dissolve right and I always find part of it in a fold or pocket so i dont use them in that washer. However in the new Electrolux washer I have, it has a compartment just for them in the dispenser drawer. I have to tell the washer that I am using Pods and it will use hot water to get them on their way to being dissolved and flushes them into the outer tub base where the recirculate pump finishes the job before it gets onto the clothes by the jet nozzle. I love this feature and I am sure other manufacturers will follow suit eventually. I do think though these Persil Discs are a tad large but I can get them in there...

Strange I've always found Tide to be suds happy. Persil can easily suds up, but it also seems to "deflate" just as fast. I was staying at my parents and did laundry there. They have an older LG front loader (it has the soap dispenser on the top of the unit under a door, and an almost front loader style control panel.) And with the permanent press cycle, and about 1/2 the way up the first bar it gets really sudsy. My dad thought I had put in too much soap because of how bad it was getting. It rinsed out clean though, no issues at all.

The worst detergents I found for suds have been: All (blue bottle from Sam's Club), ERA, and Arm and Hammer. The cheer I use now can get sudsy, but they all rinse out just fine.

I honestly just want something that doesn't make me stink like a flower, doesn't have an overpowering scent, and cleans well. Is that too tough? I'm considering mixing half a bottle of Persil regular with Persil unscented. Might do the trick. Would still rather have their powder though.

I stopped using any pods because regardless of where I put it in the drum at the start of the wash it unfailingly found its way to the front and got lodged in the door gasket. So I had to stop the cycle and and fish it out every time. I ended up cutting them in half inside the empty drum, loading the laundry and starting the cycle.

Have not seen these discs in a store near me yet. I bought a small bottle of Persil 2n1 Stain fighter last week and used it to wash sheets on Saturday. Maybe it's my nose but the smell of the stuff in the bottle doesn't smell like before. Instead, it is a chemical type of scent, that doesn't seem to be around after the wash. I did do 3 rinses so maybe that's it. The other thing seems to be a lack of suds. I am going to try it again this weekend on a few loads and see if this first load was just a fluke.

Can anyone tell if these discs contain a section filled with powder?
