When I went to school in Arizona, I had a girlfriend from Barcelona. She brought back some Persil laundry soap and I loved the way it worked. What do people think of it here?

I love it,

My local import shop has just begun (like in the past week) selling smaller boxes of the UK variety and I have bought two and its just great.

MIght even be worth spending the money and buying a 90 wash pack, you can get twice as many washes as you don't need to use a full dose at all (unless on heavy soiled linens and whites - something i only wash once every two weeks).

In summary, its fantastic.

There are two versions of Persil products available---the Henckels version (from Germany) and the Unilever version (from the U.K.). You can order the Henckels version quite easily in the US, and it's an excellent detergent.

Having used both (the "bio" powder variety in each case), I prefer the Unilever version, as it cleans stains a bit better and rinses cleaner than the German version. However....it costs about $47 per 51-use box (I stretch it to about 80-90 uses and still get fantastic stain-removal) once you include the steep shipping price. I usually order three boxes at a time from the Britsuperstore online.

I don't want to slight the Henckels Persil----if you liked the Persil you tried, I'm sure you'd like the German version. It's an excellent detergent and far less spendy than UK Persil.

I have tried every detergent on the UK market but always end up going back to Persil. I know a lot of people don't like non bio detergents but I love Persil Non Bio, I am currently using the Small and Mighty liquid ( I love the smell and much prefer it to the Bio variety ) and the tablets for whites.

Sniffed some of this at the Maryland Wash In and loved the scent. Didn't get to try it out though. Would love to - looked on Amazon and the cost is quite high though. Oh well.

Persil Non Bio Small and Mighty......

......smells bloody marvellous! I stopped using softener when I used it because I loved the way it made the clothes smell - even nicer when line dried.

Love Persil

I buy it from FactorySuperStore Direct. I buy 3/75 Load Boxes at a time and they were doing free shipping on that amount.

Love the fragrence and the results. I find it sort of HE because a little goes a long way.

European detergents are, almost without question, HE...if it is designed for a European automatic, it is an 'HE' detergent...

...though there are (possibly) exceptions in the UK still...

actually there are more than you might think, in fact more than I thought, until I thought about it if you follow me!!!

Persil
Daz
Ariel
Lux
Dreft (I think that is still available isn't it????)
and as far as I can work out almost all supermarket brands provide what is now called a 'handwash/twintub' option.

No doubt there are more.............................

Factory Super Store

Correct. it is the German Henckels version.

They have been very nice to deal with. I bought some from another supplier this past spring and it arrived with all the boxes crushed. I took some pics of the damaged shipment and sent them off, never to hear from them again.

I also purchased some Somat Dishmachine soap. I'm not sure if I like it... Seems to leave the glasses streaky. Maybe I'm using too much ? But then I tried less and didn't find the results that impressive.

Does STPP work Ok with Persil ?

Persil

I agree with ypu Chris.

When I first tried Persil, it was Kitchen T Shirts. Did a Hot Wash. Drained Rinsed and did another Hot Wash with a 4 hour soak I could not belive in the color of the water. BROWN. Let her rip through the cycle (Unimatic)... And they dazzled after 2 years of cheap American Crap that claimed to get Whites...White.
