A friend of mine gave me her old Whirlpool Calypso set when the washer's pump got jammed. I have since fixed the washer and use it on occasion, but have yet to touch the dryer. I've decided it's time to finally tackle it, give it a good cleaning, get it fixed up, and get it running smoothly again. When she gave me the set, the dryer still worked, but she insisted on a matching set and got some Duets. The set is the FABULOUS pewter color and I want them to remain a beautiful set! Sadly, one my friend's kids is a little sh*t and SAT on the dryer's hamper door. The d*mn kid broke the door. It hinges are kinda messed up, the panel is bent, and the door is bent and suffered several deep scratches. I have found the hinges for $30, and the panel for $155.77 special order (ouch). However, I haven't been able to find a replacement door, not sure if I need one, perhaps just some touch up paint. I thought I'd post on here to see if anyone possibly has a pewter dryer lying around that I could part out to make one good one before I go spending hundreds on parts?
Here's a pic of the machine, it's very dusty, dirty and has some stuff spilled on it. Obviously I haven't cleaned it up at all yet. However, I feel some odd attachment to this machine. It's the first dryer that I've ever actually marveled at the styling of. I usually see dryers as boring compared to the washer, but this one has a certain charm to it. Maybe it's all the buttons.
