Yup, D&M all the way. There was an apartment complex in Austin built about 1968 or 1967 which had this this dishwasher--one level, but had reguar and rinse & hold buttons. These kitchens were underr the Norge brand labe. I don't think those are the original racks.

Wow, I just noticed the detergent "cup". I've NEVER seen anything like that in a D&M dishwasher. Boy, true BOL that's for sure!!!

In fact, it is the low priced version of the Picture of the

Even the most BOL Kenmore then had dual detergent cups and 2nd wash level due to the rotorack.

Huh, detergent goes there, how' bout that?

Thanks for posting these pictures. I was always curious about Philco dishwashers, even wondering if they were ever made. Looks like it would do the job although with absolutely no fun whatsoever. I see the knockout for what would have to be a rinse agent dispenser, so I can assume this wasn't their only model. Now I have to wonder what a TOL Philco dishwasher would look like.

I remember having a large catalog of Philco refrigerators from the late '60's; the brand boasted a huge variety. I also remember that they were considered one of the better brands of refrigerators at the time. They were both unique and equipped with many features and conveniences. I'd love to know what happened to the brand.

I was watching an episode of "Bewitched" the other day and they showed Gladys Cravits kitchen. This was the dishwasher in the show, exccept Gladys' had two push buttons on the front. I couldn't decided who made that dishwasher. Glad norgeway posted this. Mystery solved for me--thank you.

PHILCO APPLIANCES

Ford Motor Co sold Philco to WCI the electric range plant went to Caloric-Amana owned by Raytheon at the time so Caloric could enter the electric range business this is also the range that Amana teemed up on to make thier ME micro-electric and gas 30" free standing combination ranges. It was actually a pretty good range I have both a n electric one and a gas one which is installed out on the screen porch [ the best place for a gas range I couldn't imagine having all the heat and odor of a gas range in the house] My friend Tom also has the electric version in his kitchen and likes it very well.

I have seen Kenmore bol dishwashers with this upper rack with no separate water source. I have also seen a top load portable Kenmore with this upper rack and the spray dildoe that was usually inder the Roto-Rack; talk about wasting water for nothing. It must have been one of Sears' famous bait and switch models. "For just $20 more, you can have..."

A friend moved into a house with a Norge dw in the early 70s. It was the first D&M machine I ever saw with a full wash arm under the top rack. While it had no filter, if it was set to high temp wash or 150 degree wash (I don't remember the labeling) and both detergent cups filled, it cleaned well. He said it did not clean as well if it was not set for the high temp wash; imagine.
