You'll all laugh ...

but this reminds me of a pizza dough maker - it of course isn't exactly like one, but it gives me a smile, thinking it churned clothes instead of dough. ok, I'll get my head examined soon.

Well normally you could do twice as much but as for right now one of the tubs has a broken agitator in it. And the ad also says only one tub is working. Don't know if the broken agitator is the only issue with it or if something else has it out of commission.

Either way,it is a genuine , original appliance. Dexter introduced this way back in the early twentieth century. If you go to their website, they show different period pieces including this on and an earlier wooden tub model. Dexter took over the comercial side of Philco Bendix and now make a line of great, front loading washers and dryers. Here in Hilo Bay Front, there is a full service Dexter equipped laundromat with front loaders that can hold up to eighty pounds of dry laundry. They have four flat screan T Vs,video games and child care. They originally had ten Whirlpool top loaders for smaller loads but those kept breaking down and took three times longer to fill . They were thrown out ad replaced with twelve more Dextrrs.

When using wringer type washing machines one had to rinse the washed load somewhere. If you could swing two washing machines (a need the Philco model above was meant to fill), you could wring your washed laundry directly into rinse water and keep things moving. Otherwise it was wring into a tub or sink of water, rinse and if you had a hand powered mangle wring out. From there it was either hand to dry, rinse and wring again, send washing through a bluing rinse and wring, and so forth.

There are better examples of that washer on eBay all the time going for much less and in better condition.
