That ad brings back memories. Loved Phyllis. The Pruitt's of South Hampton was a great show but only lasted a short time.

Years and years ago (mid 60's) when Phyllis would be in Chicago with her night club act (Usually the Empire Room at the Palmer House) she'd also appear on WIND AM radio with Howard Miller. Howard's show was basically reporting news headlines and weather and traffic and light talk. His show ran 6:00am-10:00am or so. Phyllis would sit there and ad lib from about 7:00a-09:00a or so. It was a lot of fun, especially when we got the big winter snowstorms. Phyllis had you laughing your way out the door. I remember eating breakfast before school my mom always had that show on the radio. You could tell by the way Howard and Phyllis got on that they had known each other a long time. And that made it even more fun!

Great commercials! I wish more of the Priutt's of Southampton was pretty funny, too bad it never took (Carol Burnett made the right choice with her show).

Do they even use the Empire Room for entertainment anymore? That was a grand place, with a grand entrance off the main lobby. You had a nice dinner, then the show would start with drinks, etc. We saw a few acts there.
She is a T R I P!......love when she kicks the machine to get it going...
I meant to say "I wish more of it was on youtube"..... (earworming the theme song now, argh!)
Somehow the first video reminds me (the Snowy advert) of Julie Brown of MTV. The natural redhead, not the "Evil Julie Brown" of Club MTV, and recipient, deservedly so, of many Julie Awards!
Dunno, I'm not sure if it's regularly open (the Empire Room that is), it's still there afaik. My clique of kitsch lovers and I went to Trader Vic's just before they were closed. It was fun, but had been de-tikied. The hotel overall has been nicely restored and the public rooms look great - one of the most elegant hotels of it's era.

That's my favorite of her commercials Joe posted the link to. It's cuz of the Norge washer & dryer. Looks like the same model Jon Charles has.

Love Phyllis. She was probably a few years ahead of Joan Rivers as female comedians. Both funny people.
