Someone a while back asked about these Oasis dehumidifiers and I finally got round to getting a pic of the one over at moms house. I remember my dad buying it when we were living in the first house I grew up in so it would have been late 50's or early 60's because we moved around 63. Anyways, it still works perfectly and is relatively quiet compared to some of the new ones. PLUS, it's never broken down.

The summer kitchen

A lot of the older homes around here have these pre central air, pre any air, summer kitchens down in the basement. This one is very tastefully decorated with 70's spongy kitchen carpeting. Now I forgot what make that old gas stove is. Hasn't been used in years..they used to do canning down there is about it when my dad was still alive.

I dunno why the blue plastic is still on there. I suppose she never figured it came off..I never really paid any attention to it either LOL.. still if it's all white under there I think the blue looks better..

Dehumidifier was me...

Thanks for the pix. Yes, that is the identical dehumidifier that I bought at the Salvation Army about a month ago. Paid $8.00 for it.
Still works, is very quiet and it looks like it has never been used. At least now I know how they attached the bucket! Couldn't quite figure that out. Obviously my bucket is missing. No matter - will run hose to floor drain.
Winter project is to rewire it. Can't beat the quality. Very little plastic.
Small, quiet, cheap and made in USA! Can't ask for more.
Thanks again for taking the time to get the pix. Really appreciate it. Love the summer kitchen. Don't have a basement kitchen anymore since I've moved. Hopefully will soon. Crosley Shelvador is getting awful lonely down there. The vacuums sort of keep to themselves it the opposite corner and the Westinghouse roaster doesn't talk much...

My mother is extremely organized, something I didn't inherit. She has little plastic baskets, file folders, bags from the dollar stores for holding everything in it's place and a place for everything. Every power bill, gas bill, phone bill for decades all neatly filed and put away. Plus she keeps a running chart for the year of her energy expenses, something my dad started years ago. The little bit of a mess you see on that downstairs kitchen counter..that's mostly my stuff. Off to the left is her Kenmore dehumidifier she bought a couple of years ago.. it's a monstrous basement, anyways the racket that thing makes compared to that old Oasis is unbelievable.

ooooh chil' them flammable curtains over the stove makes

Is mom's upstairs stove electric and downstairs stove gas? Rhyme or reason for that? The gas one look like a 24 incher. (60cm) In the US hard to find that size these days.

I don't know if I'll need a dehumidifier in this house come next summer but guess what'll be doing the dehumidifying.

Steve. Yes it's a 24 incher and you're right about them curtains but it's never used anymore and probably never will be. Pilot was extinguished quite awhile ago. Upstairs is the standard ol new Frigidaire electric. I must have a pic somewheres of moms old double wide Moffat. It went when she had her kitchen remodelled.
I think the stove downstairs is a McClary not a Roper
