In Beavertown, PA / Lol. Took a 3 hour ride. Have wanted a set for a long time. I'm pretty excited.
Next thing is to sell off 1961 set of 700 Tags and a 701/702 pair of Tags, plus other appliances, and Stereo Consoles. Gotta lighten my load. Too many Large and Heavy pieces. Lol

Anyone know where I may get a Good Used or New Washer Boot?

Hope y'all find what you seek 😁

Best Washes,

Louis

Time to get out Chubby Checker and do The Twist!

Because that’s the most unapologetic early 60’s appliance score I’ve seen on here in a while! I love the color too. I’ve got a Westy mixer in the collection from about the same time in that color. IMO, Westinghouse made some of the best looking, most innovative machines of the 50’s and 60’s. Lots of luck with them!

How do you like them?

Neat find Louis

What’s the backstory about these machines, that you were able to find them in fairly good condition?

My brother and I have a good deal of firsthand experience working on and restoring these early Westinghouse compacts our families’s first dryer was also a 1957 space mate dryer, which we were actually able to keep working for about seven years.

I still have some parts laying around for these washers and dryers, unfortunately the washer door boot is going to be the tough one because this machine fills 2 to 4 inches up onto the window. You have to have a perfect tub seal to use it at least indoors.

These are definitely classic Westinghouse engineering and designed they were designed to be inexpensive, compact machines. This was the deluxe set. They made a more basic set that only had a timer knob for the washer and on the dryer. These came out a year or two later than the 57 models and they made these through about 1963 when they came out with a bigger much more satisfactory full-size front load washer and dryer, that was also the year they went away from the slant front full-size machines.
