Pics from the Jasper County Museum - Newton, Iowa

On my recent trip through the mid-west, I stopped at the Jasper County Museum, located in Newton, Iowa (former home, of course, to Maytag). They have a fantastic collection of Maytag machines. It's fun to go through that museum. I also enjoy educating the docents about the collection!

I've been meaning to take a trip there for some time now.

 

I just need to make a decision where to go first. Jasper or Lee Maxell? Lee is getting up there in age, so I probably should make that my first trip.

That museum had a lot of stuff not just Maytag washers! I could spend hours in there.

And we did spend hours there! I've been there four or so times now, always fun to see the perfect, NIB machines.

We should plan another trip, the antique stores around Newton are usually good places to find Maytag swag, too.

Jasper County

Bradd, its a great museum, glad I had the pleasure of visiting with the gang at the 2005 convention...

I too would like to visit Lee Maxwells place while we can, he visits UK each year and hopefully can meet him here shortly.

Jon Jetcone - my image of you at the museum is finding the Maytag Combo Manual was for sale - and the rush to the cash register...Ha..ha..

Maytag Museum

My brothers and I visited the Museum when the collection was still in MTs hands around 1972, apparently at that time period very few people visited it. If you turned the guest book back just a page or two you when back at least a year. It was still great to see and I am glad that Jasper County is keeping this going, everyone should visit if they get the chance.

 

Lee Maxwell s is also a great thing to see and it is not certain what will happen to this cool museum in the future as it is privately held.
