Fluid Drive

Ok...

Having lived with a Simpson Fluid Drive until 1989, can someone please explain how they actually work? Why were they called 'fluid drive'?

Very interesting and nice machine-watching the video clip it reminds me of the Norge my Mom had when I was very little-and Borg-Warner-Norge Ancestory!what amazed me is that there wasn't as much splashing with the Simpson Big vane agitator as I have seen with other similar agitators-You have to wear full rain gear or get wet.The Simpson was so quiet and effective. As I understand how this machine works-you set the FUNCTION Manually and set how much time for the function on the timer?Never seen such a machine-its very fascinating to me.Would be easier than a wringer washer.Do you have to fill the washer with the hose?Or does it have the water hookups?

Wow..Indeedy...!!!

well Leon, what a classic simpson Collection!!!, again surprised seeing the "Maytagesque" features!!!...
Whats with the "Celestial" was it a special etc..seems space ageish like constellation!!!everything is so square on that machine , buttons, simpson logo and then we see the round font of the "celestial"....whoever is sprinkling you with "collectors dust" long may it continue!!!

Enjoy, Mike

Hi Mike.

"Celestial" was made specially for Waltons, a department store in Australia that was very big in the 70's and 80's. Went out of business with Alan Bond...

In addition to the Celestial Simpson their was a Celestial Whirlpool as well. Some Japanese machines wore Celestial badges too.
