Beautiful control panels on this pair. It looks like there is lint in the dryer's filter. Did they run a test load through them before they took the photo? LOL

I like the looks of these Hotpoints better than the GE models of that time. The only thing I don't like is the knobs.

Lint Screen Missing

Upon closer inspection of the photo, it looks like the dryer lint screen isn’t even in place...

 

My Amana washer has the same “self-cleaning” filter system as shown in the Hotpoint ad.  However, when it kicks into spin, the water leaving the outer tub pushes up through the circular filter, dumping water back into the inner tub.  I guess in theory whatever lint was captured should exit with the surging water to the outer tub, but there’s a lot of water coming into the inner tub — I’m sure lint and all!

It has always bothered me about this ad is that it appears to be the TOL washer model, but it's paired with the standard capacity dryer mate rather than the big load dryer version!!!

I suppose maybe the regular dryer was shown because it's size is more in proportion to the washer, and looks better. The extra large capacity model is several inches wider than the washer.

Washer vs. dryer width didn't bother me at all. I remember subtly remembering that was fact, but all I cared about was the extra large dryer drum vs. what was the standard dryer drum size.
