Thanks, Stephen. Pretty neat machine. BIG question: What's with the AIR DRY settings? I apologize if I missed this in the earlier discussion. Please refer me back to that thread if it has the answer. Does the Punch +3 pulsator do anything differently than the usual pulsator, i.e. turning the load in a big ball and sucking under what is on top at each reversal? Have you been able to see if the three small impellers turn in the same or opposite direction as the big one? I hope you have lots of fun with this machine. Tom

Air dry and pulsator

Hi Tom and Toggle, thanks for your comments,
The Air dry function is supposed to help with drying during the spin cycle, as the machine spins it sucks air into the cabinet which helps with drying the load, also this function can be invoked on it's own, although I am not too sure about having a 2 hour spin with air drying, also the instruction book advises once a week to use the 30 minute air dry with no clothes to dry out any hidden moisture in the drum, to be honest I won't be using it much at all,I personally prefer natural drying on the line.
Tom the pulsator works like you describe, the pulsator rotates in one direction, the drum rotates the alternate direction and as far as I know the 3 water wings go in the opposite direction to the main pulsator,to create an alternate water current.
Cheers.
Steve.

I have REAL doubts about the drum activators!!

Sorry guys but I had a twin tub wth exactly the same drum design....
First thing was the "punch" action from the small central pulsator. It only moved about 2 inches but only when you grabbed it during the wash phase. (similarly if the clothes suddenly wrapped themselves around it!!)
Secondly. The three circular so called "pulsators" were not attached to anything so in my opinion, looked fancy but had no worth whatsoever.
Sorry to sound negative but LG needs to show that all three aspects of the agitator are fully independant as I can't see how just the movement of the main pulsator can bring the others into any positive action.

The reason I bought the twinny was because of the advertising around these machines.... to me it was false advertising.

Sorry guys,

Peter

sorry again...

a 2 hour spin is not going to help with creasing OR the bearings on the machine.
Goodness, I am very negaitve this evening. I honestly apologise.

Steve, Thanks for the answers. I have never heard of the tub rotating in the opposite direction of the pulsator; sounds pretty sophisticated. I wonder what it would be like if the turning tub had bigger baffles or fins; not as big as in a tumble action machine, but somewhere in between. I have an older 6 lb load Haier, I think, but only the pulsator moves during agitaion periods. I still think that these machines would be more effective if they had even a plain spindle sticking up from the middle of the pulsator to prevent the load from balling up, but maybe the wash action would not allow that and it would probably interfere with the loading and unloading of the narrow diameter tub.

Silent wash

Hi Steve
Can you explain what the silent wash does. I've just bought a Turbodrum top loader second hand 8.5kg. V. similar in design to yours, but different model. Mine is WT-R852?
Any help would be appreciated.

Silent wash

Hi Littlelea,
The silent wash is a programme basically designed for very early morning or late night washing the actual programme on mine goes for about 1hour 15 minutes the agiatation is longer and slower than other programmes and the spin is slower, for example you can set your load up the night before select silent wash and delay the start to say 3am the next morning and while you sleep, the wash is done and you just peg it out when you get up.
Cheers.
Steve.
