I am new to this board but am loving it so far. I would like to share a tid bit with you all about a washer I recently sold a customer of mine from my small biz of re-conditioned washers and dryers. I refurbished a large capacity GE washer a while back. Biz was slow and I was bored one day. I jerry-rigged, as I like to call it, a little music maker device behind thye washers control panel next to the timer (contact style). I configured it to play a tune at the beginning of the wash (traditional military CHARGE anthem) and at the ending of teh cycle, after final spin, I had it to play a little diddy called 'The Looney Tunes Theme song." I didn't tell my customer that I had installed this little music maker in the machine. She called me and told me I was a good joke player. she loved it. I offered to disabl;e it for her if it was annoying her. She said by NO means would she allow it. Now all her friends want one of their own. haha!

Absolutely brilliant!

Idea for future manipulations: A washer that does Jewish mother guilt!

"Oy vey, you can't find 10 minutes to call the woman who gave you life after 36 hours of labor?"

"So, the beautiful clothes I buy for you behind your father's back don't deserve so much as a little fabric softener, then?"

I love the flames Arohhh, I have a homie who does nice pin-stripin' so I may ask him to hit me up with some of that. I have painted a few washers in my time. I do it poor boy way with Krylon but have found that a can of clear coat sprayed on does wonders for durabilty.

I've got a nice auto-body spray gun in my garage that I've used only a few times for repairing paint problems on the cars. For the jobs I've done, I have achieved a really awesome finish that's amazingly smooth and shiney! I used it to spray paint some printed circuit computer board stuff on the back doors of my van (hence the nickname cyber-vanner).

I want to try painting my refrigerator sometime with some cool metallic color(s). I can sand it down with some 300 grit sanpaper One of the things I was thinking about was doing one of those neat "fade" paint jobs that has become popular lately on the cars. For instance, having bottom start with a dark metallic blue, and have it fade to a silver. Or, I could get really wild, and paint one of those fancy custom-van murals like from the seventies on the sides. Another option is that I could give it a retro-fifties look...get some chrome strips off of some junkyard cars, and give it a nice pastel two-tone paint job like a vintage roadmaster, Bel-Air, or whatever fifties ride you like!

Whattta you all think I should do? Those plain white panels are just screaming to get some art!

Hey Cybervan, I suggest a turquoise & primer gray mix on the fridge. With some air diaphrams and a set of 'switches' to make it bounce!

The picture that arrrooohhh posted of the washer with flames belongs to Jessica, a member of That Home Site, and poster in The Laundry Room. She once told a funny story about how she had put the flames on the washer, but didn't tell her husband. He then saw a picture of it on the computer and made a comment about it, but did not find out until days later that it was THEIR washing machine.

If anyone is interested, the link below is where she purchased the flames.

Those flames, along with other graphics are avaliable at any auto parts shop. Advance and Pep boys has those around here. I never thought about dressing up appliances with them...neat idea! I like that flamed out Danby there!

The flames are neat, the flag idea is cool!
We actually did have a unimatic where the safety switch
went & flames actually DID shoot out the back of the washer!
