Thanks for your congratulations
Can't believe that I'll be seeing that old familiar salmon-orange timer dial again for the first time since about 1970... when my maternal grandfather came to live with us following my grandmother's passing in 1967, and never again did I see the flat in San Francisco where the GE Filter-Flo used to occupy its spot in the kitchen next to the sink. Have been wanting another GE like it ever since, so it ONLY took 37 years...!! Someone in Lexington, KY, on another Web chat page pertaining to appliances told me, a couple of years ago, that I'd just missed an identical set that was sitting by the curb for pick-up; this person was even nice enough to go back to check, but the GE set was gone by that time.
The only thing that could make the set more meaningful would be if it were to bring with it the times and family members associated with the "original" Filter-Flo from the long-gone days in San Francisco. I know that's impossible, so instead I will wonder, if the GE set could share its own memories, what it would have to say about being purchased and then allowed to sit, idle, for the last five decades! Is there a Code section pertaining to appliance neglect as there is for neglectful treatment of children?!
Anyway, I'll let everyone know how the mechanics are as soon as they're here; and I'll share the name of the delivery person with anyone who is interested in transport services; he is coming to California for the seller anyway on another haul and supposedly is charging only $450 for transporting the GE's to California. That is the bargain of the decade as far as shipping is concerned!
