If You Can't Reach Them By Phone . . .

I think this is worth making an in-person visit to 6409  W. 44th Ave. before anyone else has a chance to grab them.

That's the first time I've seen a dispenser mounted on the front of a top loader that I can recall. Was that a time release or just pure into the outer tub?

They are definitely sweet looking machines.

Pink egg on my face

I didn't completely read Izzy's first posting on these so he gets right of first refusal. Although it's academic at this point because she hasn't responded yet to either of us.

GE's first bleach dispensers, offered on TOL's from 1960 to 1964 were complicated pump/reservoir units where access was mounted on the front of the cabinets. The reservoirs held 3 quarts of liquid chlorine bleach and the user would pump, in 1/4 cup increments, the amount of bleach desired for the load from the reservoir into a holding sump for the dispenser. A solenoid would release that bleach late in the wash cycle. We have learned from John LeFevre that there were some problems related to this design including rust caused by having a pool of stagnant Chlorine bleach so close to metal parts. The design changed slightly in late 1962, and that is what's mounted on this pink washer. What I don't know at this point is whether they changed only the escutcheon or the whole dispenser was changed. There are a couple of members who have Filter-Flo's with this dispenser, so maybe they will chime in.

Shout out to Ken for taking it on the chin and doing the honorable thing.

Good on you, Dude.

Pink and gray are so well paired and beautiful because of elephants.

so....i finally went to go see the W&D

...at Beth's consignment shop. However, they weren't there. Beth told me that they're in storage and haven't had a price put on them. Nonetheless, she was excited that I came by and more so that there are enthusiasts wondering about the fate of these machines. She told me that they are fully operational and that the owner was using it recently. With that, she said that she would sell them for about $500-$600 and may be featured in a future estate sale; depending on the demand. $600 is a lot for me but I'm sure there are people willing to pay this much. It's not like the Maytags on ebay that were $1000+.....Finally, i asked her for some interior pics and she said yes (of course for archiving purposes). I'll be getting them via email and posting them as soon as I can.....WHOOOOOOT!
