Caveat Emptor!

They don't seem to have any photos of the cabinet that this style of dishwasher slides into! I made THAT mistake once...

Otherwise, dang it, this is a machine I really am looking for...

That was the model in neighbors across the street (my "other mother".) Was replaced with a KDS16 in 1968 or 1969 that was still in use when the house was sold last February.

This model, as you can see from the strainer detergent dispenser in the top rack, gives a warm up purge and then goes into the wash. If you select booster heat, the wash can be 45 to 50 minutes long, indicated as "Power Soak" where the timer hold occured, as the water and dishes are heated to 140F by a 600 watt heater in an uninsulated tank. As you can also see at the bottom of the tank, there is a small strainer over the drain which indicates this is no GE pump with a grinder, but a small electrically powered drain pump. One way that this machine gives better performance than the pre-bowtie GE was that the impeller stops before the drain pump starts so solids have more of a chance to settle to where they can be sucked away. There are two after rinses with fan forced drying, so if you remove the worst of solid soil from the load, it will clean. The down side is that things that don't really dissolve are being thrown at dishes and glasses until they make it out past the strainer.
