I still remember fondly some of the winter scenes I would see over the upper midwest from the air while flying with North Central Airlines back in the day.
We had service from Chicago O'Hare to Grand Rapids, MI. I remember one particular evening we were just coming over land after traversing Lake Michigan just above Benton Harbor. We had started out descent into GRR. The sky was clear and the snow was on the ground and it was probably 0 degrees outside. There was also a full moon that night. The landscape below looked like a Currier & Ives painting. You could see all the farmhouses with smoke coming out of the chimneys, lights on in the windows, and everything was covered with a bright white coat of new snow. it was breathtaking to say the least.
