Yes, that could be fun....

Listening to internet radio almost exclusively for music these days. I'm boycotting KTU until they come to their senses....but thanks for the Greek link, Toggle.

Maybe a New York get-together would be fun.....

April in New York

I am going to New York at the end of April. I cannot wait as it is my first time. My husband lived there for a year when he was younger after moving from Hong Kong. He hasn't been back in 30 years.
We are going with a company function and won't have a lot of time to sightsee on our own. We are staying at the Waldorf Astoria! They have things planned like a dinner on Ellis Island and a Broadway show one night. We want to get to Chinatown but I have found out it is a long way from where we are styaing and I don't know if we can figure out how to get there without spending a ton on cab fare! Any help Toggle?? :)

Ms. sikiguya,
Try the NYC subways if you want its the only way I get around its not too bad depending were your going.

Sikiguya....as vintage has mentioned, nothing could be easier than the subway, which is just a short walk from your hotel, and will take you to the heart of Chinatown quickly and easily!

Hi Heather *WAVES*.

Yes-

1- "Hire" me as your tour-guide.
2- Let me know where ya wanna go and I'll give you my two cents as to how to get there if you prefer to keep it a family trip.
3- Subways are a good method to get around and are generally safe, fast quick and oh-so-memorable!

IIRC the #1,#2,#3 subway lines goes to Canal Street which is the northern "border" of Chinatown. Will confirm and advise.

You may also want to go to the 1964 World's Fair site in Flushing Meadow Park, Queens. Here is located the New York Hall of Sceinece, an interactinve learning center that is fun for the kiddies. Take the #7 train towards Flushing Queens* (I believe express or local) to one-stop-before-last.

*this is where the character Fran Drescher of "The Nanny" is from. LOL

Adults only......

<Waves back at Toggle>

It won't be a family trip, just the hubby and I alone!! Those are wonderful words. :)

Every year my husband can win 2 trips for a certain sales level (insurance business). Ones is a spouse/partner trip and the other is a family trip. Jim and I have gone to Oahu, Switzerland, Puetro Rico, Maui, and now New York. Family trips are to places like Traverse City (2 times), Michigan, Williamsburg, NC, and Walt Disney World.

Of couse, he moved to a different job now where he can't win these trips anymore but we get to go on this last one to New York and a family one to somewhere in NC with great golf (yuck but all the guys at the company love it).

Do you like Chinatown?? We are going for the Dim Sum, nothing else will do! It depends on how expsive you are (or how much you eat-LOL) but maybe we can hire you for one day of sight seeing/lunch at Chinatown and all areas inbetween! We usually have the days to ourselves but nights are always taken by company dinners/functions.

~Do you like Chinatown??

Oh yes.

I can do without the live fish presented to the person dining, and without the whole roasted chickens in the store window, heads and feet intact.Washing the tables with tea was a new one on me! (said to be a degreaser) Many drink Chinese teas to lose weight! But overall the food is good, authentic and inexpensive.

There are tons of vendor stalls with cheap junky s--- for sale. Bring $! *LOL*
