Depending on circumstance---

If it's a sad matter it might be "Oyy,"

If it's the dentist not being careful, it's "OY!!!"

It's a wonderfully evocative and useful interjection of Jewish origin.

(My first serious boyfriend-in college--was Jewish, and I've never totally recovered).

OY!!

My first boyfriend left me for a woman on 3/11/77. I said OY!!!! then however now I just say oy every March 11 since then... (got over that one quick, huh?) (:

Oy.......

Growing up in Miami, there was a large Jewish population. I heard "Oy vay" lots of times. It can be used as an expression of exasperation usually accompanied by a hand to the forehead, as in "Oy vay, you don't want to come see your mother this weekend?"

I prefer to use it as an exclamation as in "Oy vay, not sudslock again!"
