I don't think Robert meant you were actually split in half across the Atlantic that would be absurd!

You don't know about 'the pond'? Where Titanic sank? Howzbout that unpleasantness with King George? Public school history leaves much to be desired, eh? It does here too.
Not only "across the pond", but also across many other borders.
The relation between Robert and I isn't always a garden full of flowers, but I have to be fair and state that AW.org is the biggest washing machine related community in the world, definitelly wouldn't be possible without hours and hours of hard work from him and also each one of the members.
I don't know if there's an statistics chart, but I'm sure there are members from more than 20 different countries here, changing knowledge and knowing new friends day after day.
By the way, Robert, is it possible for you to make a chart or a map with the countries represented here at AW,org by the members? Now I'm really curious!

The U.S.(obviously), Canada, Australia, Argentina, England, Ireland, Germany, France, Serbia, Brazil (yay, that's me and a few other members), Italy, Sweden, Norway, Mexico, Netherlands, China, Africa and a lot more.
And more than washing machines, we became friends (ok, it's impossible to please the whole world so there are some people I dislike and some people that can't hear my name, but we're civilized and we don't bite) but the important is that no matter what happens, we still friends. The first topic here is washing machines and appliances, but as we start "living" in this community , we discover we have much more in common.
Many good friends have met and even love relationships has been born thanks to this site.
We can be miles aways far from each other, but always together in this huge laundry room so, welcome to the club! pass me that bottle of softener? Thanks!

I agree, great site. Wihtout it, I wouldn't have spend many a night, actually far too much time lol, pouring over threads and pics. Not all of us are comfortable with talking about our technological interests on Facebook or Twitter. Three cheers for Robert Unimatic!!!

Thomas, I'm quite enchanted with Brazil. Might rather live there than here. Know a smidge of B. Portuguese, enough to sing and translate Mais Que Nada. Colorful language, colorful people.
I'm here several times every day, fantastic resource and community. I haven't the space or resources to collect or rebuild, but laundry machinery is a nostalgic love none of my 'live' acquaintances share.

You don't need to have a collection or restore machines to be one of us.
Theimportant is that you love and respect them, even if you use a coin-op machine or have a plain daily driver.

It was Mr. Edson Arantes do Nascimento's (worldwide known as "Pelé") shirt.
More than the best soccer player in history (now retired because i think he's 70 something years old maybe almost 80), he's strongly involved with many support actions to help children, and other people in need. He's also one of the UNICEF abassadors in Brazil, together with Xuxa (Maria das Graças Meneghel, a children TV show host, singer and actress) and "Didi" (Mr. Renato Aragão, a commediant).
Pelé's history is one of the little things that make me proud of being brazilian. if the whole world could be at least 0,1% of what Pelé is, it would certainly be a much better place, without wars or people dieing of hunger.
One of his projects is the most famous action and still active after more than 18 years. It's "Criança Esperança" (Children hope) in partnership with the biggest broadcast company in Brasil, Globo TV. It's like the TELETON, but instead of a single day in the year, the action happens during the whole year and everybody can see the results in the whole country, with many public schools and hospitals being built with state of the art technology and donated to the community.
Pelé was also one of the starters of "Futura" educational channel project, a channel that broadcasts only educational shows 24 hours/day and also have the "school show" where people can watch a sequence of classes from elementary to high scool developed by the best teachers in Brazil and then apply for a test online or going to partnered schools to apply for the tests and exams after each "season".
The quality of this channel is so good that in 2008, after only 3 years broadcasting an English as second language tv classes show, the first group of students applied for the TOEFL and IELTS exam and got the highest scores. A portuguese speaker learning English and getting the best scores on the most difficult profficiency tests in only 3 years and only watching classes on TV can be considered almost a miracle.
These students, usually very poor teenagers that would never have the opportunity to pay for a good college, had their eforts rewarded when they were invited by some of the most respected universities in the world, like Cambridge, Harvard, Oxford and Columbia and now are studying in foreign countries 100% sponsored by these institutions and will certainly be brilliant professionals in the future.
And was Pelé, am african-brazilian guy that suffered a lot of prejudice in the past that started all of this, always wearing his "10" shirt. Beautiful history, isn't it?

Unimatic1140, my email adress is supposidly hu=idden but chris (aquarius8000) says that he can see my email adress but i cant see anone elses adress or my own for that matter, whats going on?

Yes, your email can be seen, but not your location or real name or birthday...
I'm not sure, but I think only members can see the profiles and I'm really sure Robert respects everyone's privacy not making lists of emails, giving or selling information to third parties.
In my case (and i'm sure hundreds of members agree with me) having the email available for all of the members is really useful when we need to send a message to a member without showing it to everybody.
I spent months (if not a whole year) without posting here, but I didn't loose contact with my friends thanks to my email address in my profile. The email was also useful to make more friends I would never know if they hadn't sent me an email.

I don't think you will be sure to get an answer from Robert when you post a question in a thread. You can't expect him to read all threads to see if there are questions for him. I think it would be wise to contact him by sending him a message through the email system of this site or send a mail to his webmaster email address.

My family never understood it, my friends tried to, even my girlfriend finds it bizarre. Hey I tell everyone I'm a washer guy and proud of it and there are thousands more like me.
