Hi everyone, Neal and I can join the ranks of the Americans who voted today. I hope everyone in Applianceville who is 18+ and an American votes today too. We had nine candidates for president on today's ballot <br
The polls opened at 7:00am in Minnesota and we got to our inner city neighborhood polling center at 7:02am. There were already 600 people in front of us and it took over two hours in line, but I would have waited 7 hours if necessary. Everything went smoothly and now tonight I get to watch the returns on my '59 RCA color roundie, yay!

Got to my polling place in Covington Tennessee at 7:10, was done by 7:12. I have been hearing of long lines and waits in Memphis today <br
We had four choices for President on our ballot <br
Wish I had a cool vintage TV to watch it on. Maybe I'll listen to NPR coverage on Maggie.
 
I was 25th in line at 6am. Polls opened at 7am, was done at 725am. 3 presidential candidates on our ballot, along with the "should the Georgia constitution be ammended to define marriage as only between a man and a woman" initiative. Thought about Steve 1-18 and Rhinnie the entire time...

-and I was there by 11:35 am!

It went smoothly, and I was out of there by 12:05.

I forget how many presidential candidates were on the ballot. My candidate, "Mr Ketchup," :) was on the ballot, and that's all the presidential candidates I needed :)

We in Ohio had one of those "marriage sanctity" issues. Preliminary returns suggest that sanity is prevailing, and that the measure is being turned down. As the marvellous Kate Clinton says: "Don't get me started!"

I voted today! !

I went into work at 6 am, so I stopped by my polling place on the way home from work at 2:30 pm. It only took ten minutes. And we have a marriage amendment on the ballot also, No telling what Arkansas voters will do. Will be interesting to see. Whatever happened to: ALL PEOPLE ARE CREATED EQUAL. Oh you have to convince them you are a people first. LOL. HAPPY VOTING DAY EVERYONE !!!!!!!

Hey I voted today too, in "vote early and vote often" land....
and for the record, my partner and I have an official marriage license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as of October 9, 2004.......

sorry, unfinished thought... my point being that sometimes taking action is the only option other than just having an opinion. Our hope is that in some small way, other people will be encouraged, and folks like Steve and Rhinnie will be recognized as the loyal and loving couple they are....
 
I voted in the early voting catagory a week ago Sunday so I wouldn't have to stand in lines. WE had 3 Presedential candidates on our Texas ballot. <br
And SteveD, congratulations on you and the "old man's" wedding. Double powerful bear hugs to you both, as well as a smooch.

I've been following the returns on my '48 8-T-241, but now that it's time to bed-down, the '56 RCA portable (8-PT-7030) is handling the work, and quite well too <br
Actually, I've been keeping my eye out for a pre '60 color set but they're near impossible to find. Maybe one day <br

A very sad day!!

Needless to say I am sure that there are many of us today that are very sad!! I can't believe what has happened in this country but then I guess nothing should shock me. Ohio was the place that really surprised me. They have lost more jobs in the past four years and what do they do, send Bush back for another 4. I don't feel this was much of a win for Bush. It was just to close and all we have ended up with is a nation that is divided. Just my two cents!!

Hi Terry, yes I certainly agree with you. Normally a discussion of politics would be highly off topic for us but today many of us here in Applianceville simply need a big group hug <br
For me the worse part is reading a few of the international news and blog web-sites and seeing how people from around the world laughing at our sheer stupidity. Of course you can’t blame them, but at least many of us can say we did our part to try to prevent this from happening <br
Today I feel like packing up the washers and tv’s and moving 400 miles north to Canada. They have a relatively fair and liberal government, health care for everyone, NTSC and most importantly 60 cycles at 120 volts!!! <br
Last one to Canada is a rotten egg <br

Health care for everyone, yes but who pays for it? Every Taxpayer. The taxes in Canada are out of sight. Here we have the choice to buy Insurance or not. It should be left to the individual, not the Government. I for one am staying in the greatest country on earth and judging from the red areas on the vote total map it would probably be somewhere south of Minnesota.

As a final unbiased survey, as Automaticwasher.org members, name the party you support. If you prefer to remain private, no problem. Also, please don't argue. This is just a "head count". <br

I too was dismayed by the outcome, but frankly not surprised too much. I've heard one of the biggest reasons so many went for Bush was "his high moral standards". I'm so sick of people trying to rule (and I do mean rule) everyone by the religious standards they (sometimes) set for themselves. It's time to come out of the dark ages! I can't stand the thought of four more years of this administration's march to "bring freedom" to the to the world singing "Onward Christian Soldiers". When Bush used the phrase "holy war" after 9-11, I think that's what he really meant! Look at the close numbers, there is a huge division in this country, and no matter how much he prays to his god is he going to be able to bring it together.
 
Working in Ohio

Just to let you guys know,I worked for the Kerry campaign in Ohio on Saturdays for the last couple of months.The people of the larger populations were for John Kerry.One in four jobs lost in the U.S. in the last four years were in Ohio,so that should come as no surprize! The people in the smaller towns did NOT like Bush either,but were afraid of Kerry.The Republican Party was also canvessing the same area as we were,and told people there that Kerry was going to promote Gay marrage,and that Democrats are immoral.They also called people pretending to be with the Democratic Party and told people to go to the incorrect polling place.We had Democrats helping us from D.C. and even Canada.I know these things happened.Remember I was there,and I know what the people told me.At no time did we resort to anything underhanded. We really thought we had Ohio! We thought we had the White House too!The Republicans can only win if they cheat.That is the was it always is
It hurts that we lost.It will put the U.S. 100 years behind Europe. They used the Gay issue to divide and win.That is what really stings. But some of us are used to that sort of pain.We have felt it many times before,and we will continue to feel it.But if we keep trying,perhaps it will be better and less painful for the next generation of Gay people
I will help in Ohio again in four years.Next time we will win it! (

About the only good thing is that we didn't have to endure the disgrace of having Minnesota go Republican. My condolences to our friends from those states who weren't so lucky. And thank God for term limits...at least this can't happen again. Bad enough we're stuck with that ne'er do well sickening sweet Sunday school Republican governor running the state into the ground. They'll probably vote his butt right back in too <br

Fixerman, Robert could never hope to open a can of worms as big as the one that was opened by the results of yesterday's election. I wish insurance was the only problem we had to fix. <br
Even so, higher taxes might be worth it to be rid of the "religious" (read hypocritical) right.... I have huge issues with people and leaders who think they are even entitled to an opinion, much *less* any kind of vote, law or amendment, regarding how and with whom I choose to live my life or what a woman does with her body. Ptooey! People need to get off that train and worry about their own lives pretty soon or there's going to be some kind of war or upheaval right here in our own borders, nevermind Iraq. We've all had *about* enough of this foolishness...don't say you weren't warned. People may not like who I am or what I do and that's their right, but don't expect me to care or think it's going to change because you wish it weren't so <br
I'm just.....ill. I really don't even know what to think or what to do, quite yet. I sure as h*ll don't know what people were thinking yesterday. It's almost like going through another September 11, not of course from a loss of life standpoint but from the standpoint of that nauseating feeling of just not knowing what's going to happen next or where or when the other shoe is going to drop <br
Everything that can possibly be wrong is wrong, it's all gone wrong in the last 4 years, and now we know it's going to continue to be wrong for at least 4 more years.
