I couldn't resist

Just had to add this. I saw it today along with a comparison list of Hitler and Bush........was kind of scary....but I loved the picture........

I agree Greg; they should have attached a mustache ;-)

The real truth, however, is that this photo is an enormous misrepresentation. George W. Bush does not compare to Hitler in the slightest way. Comparing our President to a dictator who slaughtered millions of innocent people in an attempt at genocide is plain nonsense, IMHO. Whoever created this photo should be ashamed.

Also, even though Bush-bashing is popular, he still pulls through and becomes elected another term. YAY!

Bush bashing

In all my life, I've never seen such a division over a President. It seems like people either LOVE him or absolutely can't STAND him, with virtually no middle ground. Very strange, have any prior President been in this position? Any Presidential "historians" out there who can cite this kind of thing in the past?

Austin, I was making a feeble attempt at humor. I agree with you. That comparison is absolutely asnine.

NPR

About a year ago, NPR did a story comparing Bush and Hitler. They took some of Bush's speeches and paralleled(spelling) them to Hitler's. It was startling to say the least. They got in a lot of trouble for it and had to apologize the next day.<p>
Even though I can't stand the man, I do not believe there is any comparison.

Appologize to the rest of the world

For those of us here who would like to appologize to the rest of the world for what we have done, check out this site. A story about this web site and how it's been overrun with traffic from around the world was published in this morning newspaper. I think we are going to submit a picture later on in the week.

For those of us who are not sorry, I did hear there was a "Were Not Sorry" web site, the paper said it recently taken off line, so the link doesn't work to that site.

Once you're there, click on the big "Sorry World" Picture.

Pardon me while I step out of my usually quiet self...

I love that site! No wonder Kerry lost. Anyone who feels the need to apologize for making our own country and the world safer, removing a real Hitler-like dictator from power and bringing freedom and democracy to millions of people should loose.

Kerry has much more in common with Hitler, in that Hitler was the head of the Nazi party and "Nazi" is short for the "National Socialist party something something" in German. To listen to the Democrat talking heads go on about taxing the rich, socialized medicine and more government control over business, the parallels are much more pronounced. For the Democrats whining and crying that they lost, they should be glad that Bush is actually a very liberal Republican. His pandering to the right makes him seem a lot worse than he really is.

Besides, we go on and on about the President, when we really should be much more concerned about our Representatives and Senators in the Congress. That is where laws are made; that is where real change can take place.

And now it's my turn

Even thinking about comparing Bush and Kerry with Hitler is plain stupid. (I should write this in all caps!!) You don't know what you are talking about. Both Bush and Kerry are part of a democratic system and don't think about manipulating it like Hitler did. They also didn't think out an ideology in which there is place for genocide. Besides that Nazism (or National Socialism) 'normal' socialism are two very different things. Read a history book!

Fortunately there are enough people on the red side who know deep in their hearts this statement is so very true and something to be proud of.

Fortunately there are enough people on the blue side smart enough to see right through this big line-o-bologna.

Unfortunately for all of us red or blue, United We Stand.

United We Stand

The election is over, the results are now known.
The will of the people has clearly been shown.
We should show by our thoughts and our words and our deeds
That unity's just what our country now needs.
Let's all get together. Let bitterness pass.
I'll hug your elephant.
You kiss my ass.

thank you,but no thanks

I will stay as I am,and stand by ground.I will never respect Bush or go along with the thoughts and ways of the 52% that elected him.I also have lost some pride for the United States.I feel ashamed for the arrogance, and lack of intellect, and compassion our "leadership" has. The majority of the world expresses a similar opinion.
Although I can't stand Bush,Cheney,Carl Rove,or whomever is running the show,I do not find him (or them) comparable to Hitler. Even though Hitler was a crazy mass murderer,he was more intelligent, was a better public speaker, and had better hair!

jmirawm (of topic, just curious)

Where in Arkansas are you? I am originally from Little Rock, and I sent that poem to my mother (who is a "yellow dog" democrat) who works at UAMS. I thought it was cute.

Robert is right, even though I don't agree with everything "United We Stand"

Hi Jackson, I am originally from Fort Smith. I live in the small town of Barling, to the East of Fort Smith. I guess you could say I am a Barling Darling. HA. Also lived in Kansas 4 yrs while attending college. And then in St Louis for two yrs before settling back down here in 1986. I laughed out loud when I opened my email and read that poem ! I LOVED IT ! Tom

I am a new member here and I must say that I'm so glad that my "gaydar" is still working.

I came upon this site by way of Yahoo through a search for vintage appliances. I've spent several hours here doing a lot of reading and looking at all the photos. I've enjoyed every minute of it. In the first hour on this site I got to thinking about how many men there are here that really enjoy showing off their washing machine collections. I had my suspicions that I was amongst a group of "family" members and I'm happy that my suspicions were correct. You've all done exceptionally well with preserving appliances and for working towards making this such a wonderful site. Keep up the great work!

David
So many men...so few washing machines.

Welcome to all the new members, and Bobbyhall, congratulations on your marriage! Are British, by any chance? I noticed you referred to your mother as "mum" and put a period after your name. England is a wonderful place, a good friend lives there and I have visited.

I had kind of stopped looking at this thread not too long after the election as I just needed to get all that out of my system for a while and try and refocus the negative karma it created in my life, and it's interesting to see the turns the thread has taken.

What is it bout gay guys and washers?

I gave this topic some thought and came up with a couple of possibilities. They are...

The thought of sitting on the agitator just brings goose bumps out of a lot of gay men

OR...

Simply sitting on the washer while the fist from the Salvo Tablet commercials comes out makes gay men's hearts flutter.

Sorry, those are the best solutions I could come up with to the question.
