Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

That machine was very innovative in washing machines. I was one of, if not the first washer to have the raised back panel. They still had the two deep rinses, before they incorporated the overflow rinse and cut it back to one rinse. Sure would have been great if they hadn't tangled clothes so badly.......

One can reduce the tangling issue by making some adjustments to the way you normally load a machine and length of Wash time.
These machines have such rapid roll-over you don't need as lengthy a wash time as other machines. Better to set the dial by degree of soil.
Whenever I use a Unimatic I am aware of the differences and proceed accordingly. I rarely have a tangling issue, however, I also avoid using a Unimatic to launder sheets!

I get what you are saying. I'm going to try that trick. When loading long-sleeve shirts i typically hold the shirt by one cuff and lower it into the tub. Slacks the same way. Lower by the cuffs and let it all pile-up in one spot. Towels as well, hold by the short end and lower straight down. I never hold anything, especially long items, in a horizontal fashion when loading.

The people in warmer climates likely had better luck with the tangling. When I lived in Miami, all my casual stuff was short-sleeved or short-pants. Never had a problem with tangling (except sheets).
