Nice Whirlpool DW ad! I like the way the panel of this machine reflects the design of WP washers of that time.

Reminded me that Whirlpool dishwashers of the very late Fifties and very early Sixties were supposed to have been great machines; good design and superior performance, besting even KitchenAid's and GE's. I don't know anything about them and I don't think I've ever seen any on the site. Does anybody have any information on them?

That would have been the model with the Gorman Rupp pump and the tubular black wash arm. It also featured the telephone dial timer on the TOL model. In the ratings report it was said that the top-rated models washed as well with no detergent as some of the lower ranking models did with detergent. Friends of our family replaced their APEX with one and it needed lots of service before being replaced with a KDS15.

The model below this one was front loading, but used the lower rack of a GE dishwasher and the bow tie impeller along with a WP top rack. It was weird to see the GE rack as a roll out without any side rails around it.
