This was toward the end of Frigidaire being owned by GM. I think it was one of the last advertisements that Frigidaire had about their washing machines. There was a television ad that showed this too. At that time even consumer reports gave this machine a good rating, falling just below Maytag in the ratings. I thought they were quite good at washing and spinning the water out of clothes myself. They certainly held more clothes than anything else on the market at that time. So at least Frigidaire finally made it to #2 according to consumer reports before they became a White/Westinghouse machine.

They were certainly quality built. Our neighbors had 2 generations of these. The first had a window in the washer door and the second was a late 70s harvest gold set.

I remember seeing a Reader's Digest advertisement showing the multiport aerator that looked really fun. I seem to remember 6 ports, not 12. The camera angle was from directly above the washer and it just looked really cool. One has to wonder how well those little openings have held up with hard water, over time. I can't think of any other washer that has such an elaborate aerator fill spout.

Am I getting too picky? It seems like there is a typo in this ad. The saying is "Now you see it, now you don't."

Now you don't is correct. That is a saying that was used for several different types of advertising. Also if I'm not mistaken the 1958 Frigidaire Unimatic washer was rated #1 by Consumer Reports.

How well has it held up?

Well, here's proof of GM Frigidaire quality.  This 1972 machine has only had the timer motor replaced and as of November had it's first servicing of the agitator arm bearing.  The matching dryer is still going too, without any repairs, just the occasional clean out every couple years!

Yes I feel very lucky. For the frigidaire that Justin gave me, used to belong to our friend Ross. So it definitely has a sentimental meaning to me.

As for the coppertone 806, that will still be here for me to use. I'll just switch them back & forth depending which one I feel like using

FRIGIDAIRE 1-18

So glad you got Ross's 1-18 - He was a very nice and generous man. I actually have the harvest gold 1-18 he had before he got the almond one. I also have an 806 and I do different loads in different machines. That is why we have more than one - HA !!!! HAPPY WASHING

I also had one of the last GM made washers in 1979. I sold it with the house. I now wish I didn't. I would love to have that machine again..........along with red box Dash. That was the only detergent I used in the machine. Everything came out very clean.
