1956 models, if I am not mistaken. They had the little white glass timer dial that lit up when it was operating. I have only had one of those sets. Found it in that open field of washers and dryers where I used to get them and fix them up for $5 a piece. They weren't as popular as the next year. The 1957 models were VERY popular because of the novel design I am sure. They had the same mechanism as the previous animatics. Nice looking machines and refreshing after Frigidaire having the same basic looking model for so long.

1956 models really did step up the console design game for Frigidaire. It began quite a run of excellent consoles for the brand. Did the agitator also change to the 'rubber rings' in '56?

I used to like the '58 console the best, but there are so many great ones---well into the 1960s. The clamshell console that closes is really awesome ('62 or '63 maybe?).

After the pot-metal look of the '55 the '56 looked pretty elegant. I really liked the copper trim. It looked great on the pink machines, although I was not a two-tone fan. The white tops looked contrived to me.
