Does anyone know what year this Kenmore set is from? I want to look it up in the online catalogs.

I bought this exact set right after they were released on the market, October 1986.  I'd seen them in the Sears store in Rochester NY the previous month while visiting a former neighbor.  They are my Lady Shredmore pair.

Thanks! Ancestry has the Sears catalogs archived now so I'm going to go back and take a look.

I was curious as well, as it looks like that is when they changed over from the plastic/“chrome” knobs to the rubberish knobs. Were the washers still belt-drive this year?

Belt-drive, no.  This was early in the direct-drive era (and I think 2-speed, not 3-speed with the ex-low agitation choice?), thus Bob's naming it The Lady Shredmore.  WP had belt-drive until sometime in 1986 but KM probably changed all models to DD before WP.

Did Kenmore have any models with step-down agitation, à la Whirlpool's "Gentle Wash System?"  The 1999 KM 90 I have doesn't do that, agitation is at the selected speed for the duration of the cycle.

Sorry I missed Bob’s “Shredmore” reference...and so true! My ex-wife and I bought a new Whirlpool washer and dryer the year we were married (1986) and I remember the wash cycle had the slower agitation for the last four minutes, I believe. Don’t know if Shredmore did that...
