If you look at the post about Westinghouse vibration you'll see the beginning of the Westinghouse top load washer. The basic design changed very little up to this model. I think they had to compete with all the top load machines and came out with one that rivaled the Norge 15. They did seem to wash clothes pretty well and held a fairly large load, but were not quite as good at spinning out and clothes were damper than most. Seems like that as time progressed, these machines were not as good quality as they had once been and had more problems. Even so, there were many of them that lasted a long long time. I just never considered them that terrific of a washing machine, but adequate to do the job. The dryers weren't that great either.

Westinghouse toploader

The first Westinghouse top loaders were actually Easy top loaders that Westinghouse bought and rebadged. They did it because the sales department said they were losing front loader sales to top loaders which it seemed people liked because they were easier to load and were more like the wringer washer they were replacing. When Westinghouse saw they were going to have to manufacture there own to save money they designed it and call it the C.P.A. Westinghouse (center post agitator). I think this term was only used by the design guys because I have never actually seen it on a washer name plate. Jeb
