All I can say is WWOOWW!! I am a fairly new AW member and thoroughly enjoyed your story on your 13 year quest for this rare bird of a machine and how you actually found it 4 miles from your home. It was truly meant to be for you. I do have so many questions about its operation, your description is right on but I would love to see a pictorial diagram of the drive mechanism. You had a link provided in the thread with the fabulous photos, but comes up 404 error when clicked on (expired?)
Do you have that literature and would you mind posting it again for us "newbies"? How has the machine held up after two years and how often do you run it? Any idea how many of these machines were actually manufactured, were other machines by Apex similar in design?

Hi Kevin, almost all of the Apex automatic washers were of the Bouncing Basket variety. The only ones that were not were from the last year that Apex produced washers, somewhere between '56 and '57. I can't imagine that there were that many made. Talk about rare.
My Wash-a-Matic has held up just fine, at first I used it almost daily for months and now I use it every few weeks or so.

Thanks so much Robert, I love the literature. I did a little research and found patent number 2665575 for Apex Electric Mfg. Co. wobble "bouncing basket" washing machine and its drive mechanism and construction. This one does not have a control panel like yours but the "innards" looks the same. Great design, very simple, they don't build 'em like this anymore.
