Funny, I hadn't given any thought to when they gave a name to the wash action. Must have been after they went to this type of machine as opposed to the old "diving bell". Maybe when they introduced the Combo. 1953?
In any event, back in those days the Bendix was considered by most folks as the "premium" front-loader.
I have a 1963 that Kim gifted to me long ago. It's a gas combo. I don't use it as a dryer, however, it is a very capable front-load washer even if it is the smaller cabinet and tub design.
