Yes, it is a PHILCO. Here is mine, rescued from Aberdeen and restored by me a couple of years ago.........Famous Blades Of Water wash action with Flex O Wash high frequency wash....... Mine is a 1966 model.......
Jimmy, that's very similar to the one Todd in New Orleans rescued late last fall from a relative's back porch.

I've had the pleasure to actually see this washer do its "Thing" which is really cool!! I'll probably never see another one! Jimmy does a wonderful job keeping his collections up and running and is a wonderful host as well. I Remember the days when Philco was associated with Ford Motor Company in some ways doesnt seem that long ago. Of course GM and Frigidaire..American Motors and Kelvinator... I dont recall seeing any Chrysler Washing machines but I do remember a few air conditioners and Boat Motors with the Chrysler name. Thanks for the post Jimmy Its guys like you who keep this group alive!

Mine's still dirty!
Yes, I did rescue one that looks alot like this one, but probably bottom of the line. All I remembered from it as a kid was that it had a "blue hat" on top of the agitator. My mother couldn't believe what I remembered from 30+ years ago. Mine does work; but sadly, I have not had time to get her cleaned up well. I am happy to say that as of last week, I now have power and water to the workshop that I had built for my treasures. One day soon, I will have it looking good enough for pictures! SMILE Jimmy, you always do have the nicest looking machines ... I know, I got two from you! That's why I like this club; the folks are so nice! Todd

Yes I too prefer the washer more also but, Borateem was a great laundry additive in it's day as well.

doesn't someone have a video/demo of one of these machines on this site, I know I've seen it. It didn't have the blue top but a yellow one that you could put the detergent in. I snuck into some garages when I was a kid in the 60's and found 2 of them which clearly said "Ford Motor Company" on the outside somewhere. Never saw one in action until here on this site when I was 49. HA HA!!!Anyway, the vid I saw on this sight shows incredible turnover, why hasn't this kind of action been used since, it would be better than the rip and tear fast/short stroke of current top-loaders. Come to think about it, would be better than the bouncing plate. Maybe not as fun to watch, however,.

Chrysler Marine was actually one of the few profitable Chrysler divisions, as well as Chrysler Aerospace back in the late 70's. But they were forced to spin off all non core automotive businesses during the govt. bailout. I believe that was the deal.

I think that the POD washer and the one pictured by FilterFlo had a different wash action than the 1959 Automagic in the See It Wash section. We had a 1969 model when I was growing up -- lasted till '86, in fact, with no major problems -- and I don't remember anything like the high frequency vibrations of the Automagic.
Chrysler sold off non-core operations to raise money, not as a condition of the bailout. They needed a wad of cash not a trickle of profits. General Dynamics got the tank business and made a fortune off of it.
