The newly designed GE "mobile maid" dishwasher. The new spray arm and shower tower on the bottom made it clean better and was much easier to load dishes and the spinner on the top eliminated most particles of sediment on top of glasses and such. You certainly did not dare to put a bunch of glasses together on the bottom though because the powerful spray would cause them to hit each other and break! I found that out the hard way once upon a time.... Needless to say, never cared much for that dishwasher after that and sold it off to the first person I could.

I restored a GE Mobile Maid , twas a rusty bucket when I got it for $20. I use it for maybe 3 loads of dishes, then set it aside to rest for 2 months in the kitchen corner. It has the spray arm, uplifting tower, and nozzle in the lid, and I added a relay to make it heat the water whenever the motor runs in the spray direction. Prior to that, it heated only for the drying cycle, never in the wash, it was apparently a low-end model.

While a KA -19 or so certainly does better with baked on crud cookware, this machine does perfectly well with all tableware(unrinsed), no complaints at all.

I'm glad it isn't my only dishwasher, but it's a fun old gal for occasional use! It moves tons of water around, loud and clean.

I have an appliance book that recommends the, or a, GE top loading portable, such as this, (CG SM150) as a Best Value-recommended buy, so I would like to think the quality improved, in terms of it not destroying your dishes, or there simply being the likelihood of the person using it, to load it properly...

Along with it are a couple Westinghouse front loaders (SC 300M, portable; SUK 3CX, undercounter, built-in) and of course Kitchen Aid, (all models), the 'Best-Made, regardless of price'...

Great Washing ability

I had the econo model, with the power shower. There wasn't anything that i threw at it, that didn't come out spotless. I think It was my favorite dishwasher, along with a RR Maytag, that come along later. I put all dishes anywhere in the GE, and never had anything broken. It was very loud, although I didn't mind.

Cleaning wise our MM gives every satisfaction

The wear and tear upon one's china and glassware is another matter.

Mugs, dishes, and so forth all have gray marking from being thrown about during washing. Yes, one is sure things are properly and securely placed.

This and chips, chips and more chips; china and glassware that is decades old but didn't seem so with the old Frigidaire, now after just a few years of the MM are looking rather beat up.

All I can tell you is don't dare put in a load of glasses in the bottom with nothing else. They will knock into each other and break into pieces. Nothing to secure them well enough and powerful spray!
