it looks like the one on the Beverly Hillbillies. The console is for sure.
Whirlpool top loaders are like that now with touch pads. No control of temp. All you can choose is soil level and fabric type.
The Maytag must have had timer cams to index the mix valve for the selected cycle temp. Hot for whites, warm for colors, cool for delicates. I can imagine the rapid advance motor clicking through the indexes when spin only was selected.
