Hey everyone. Just wondering if anyone near me in NJ has a portable dishwasher they want to sell. My new place doesn't have a dishwasher, and this would just be temporary till I can remodel the kitchen. It doesn't even need to have any "vintage" on it as this would be a daily driver. I'm trying Craigslist but so far, the 2 I've seen near me, have been stored in unheated garages for at least a year and I worry about water in the pump etc freezing.
 
I do, actually.

I have one of those small portable Haier models, an HDP18PA. My buddy used it for a few years in his place in Brooklyn, and gave it to me to sell when he moved to Manhattan. Its missing its caster wheels, I have it sitting on a shipping dolly so I can move it out of the way. The sockets for the front casters missing, since the machine was semi-installed. Harbor Freight in Saddle River sells mini-dollys that would probably fit, and i think they cost about $3.
 
This little guy was in his apartment until about 2 weeks ago and now is in my garage, but its not been cold enough to hurt anything. I cleaned it quite thorougly a few days ago. I'll run it though a cycle just to make sure everything is okay.
 
A couple of friends of ours have the Danby portable thats cost them about $350 at Best Buy...that dishwasher cleans very well and has a water softener built into it. They have had it now for 2 years with no problems at all. Its not the quietest thing but she does the job. Cleaning is on par and yeah I am going to say it...with my Miele dishwasher. Its very powerful and doesnt use much water. Heats the water as well.
 
CUTE and as I say, any dishwasher is better than no dishwasher, if for nothing more than getting the crap out of the sink and off the counter while you are trying to prepare food. Added bonuses include the work surface on top and elimination of the dish drainer that takes up counter space or one bowl of the sink. Hope you get one soon. Tom

Jim and/or others, I've got one of those Dishwashers, if anyone is interested in it and wants to check the Shipping, you can have it.

I've been able to put quite a lot of everything in it, from practice of how to position items, including Silverware and it all comes real clean.

It is fairly noisy, but I just go into another part of the house, so I don't really hear it much. I also have tuned my Ears to how Appliances sound, so when they make noises that they shouldn't, I can know that something needs to be checked out and Repaired/Replaced.

I've also used the Jet-Dry Solid Hanging Containers and they seemed to last for several Loads, before needing to be replaced. I attached them on the Front-Left of the Top 1/2 Rack and had it sitting towards the Door side of the Racks.
