I had the same model but painted in harvest gold, washed everything perfect. You just had to set a timer for 22 minutes on normal and hit cancel drain, open, spin the roto rack and take everything out, once you could touch it. With mine, the door spring broke and the 2 screws at the bottom of the door dug into the bottom porcelain and ruined the tub.

That's too bad - how long did you own this before it failed? Not that I'm buying, but it would suggest inspecting the spring and replacing. A metal spring failure reminds me of Chinese metal...and that wouldn't be the case here. I wonder if this was an exception to this unit's faulty points?

No Phil, I bought it new in 1973 and used it as a portable until 1983 when I built it in and the spring sprung about 1990 and the leaks started. I should have been more aware and fixed it right away, but too late now.

Phil, Very interesting that the Tag on Staten Island and this Lady have 8 pushbuttons and no dial, the Tag reminding me of the 906 clothes washer. Alluring and mysterious. Nice finds. Thanks. Got a kick out of wife's "Why can't you find anything like that [NIB Kenmores]?" Pretty funny.

Thanks for noting those details. The TAG possesses clean lines (McCobb might approve)that I liked, too. The question about the TAG is - after sitting all those years, do you replace anyting from age? It's not like a car sitting for years, I guess? Yeah, no dial - again, I like a dial, but the clean lines on the Lady were a bit of a surprise to me, too.
No NIB finds and still married, lol ( The Battle Hymn of the Republic and Appliances overshadows... "my eyes have (not seen) the glory of the coming of NIB appliances..."

This model only had a 12 or 22 minute heated dry, no air dry. Normal cycle took 22 minutes and I skipped the dry cycle.

Michael - NIB Dream list? It would be anything Kitchenmaid, Frigidaire, and GE, in general..but I've never made a list. Has anyone ever found NIB ABC, APEX, THOR (washers and dryer I'm talking here), or Blackstones?
I'll need to make a list and if anyone is surprised that I haven't, it includes me.

There is a Blackstone TOL Conventional, aka, wringer washer with a spray rinsing wringer powered by a valve with a control switch that allows FILL or RINSE, something people like me dreamt about but never thought existed , but it does--or DID--exist. It was featured in a POD, once (or an emporium choice), but I haven't seen it since.
Equally stunning is a Sears catalog offering of a spray rinsing Visit-matic wringer, which, like the Blackstone, has yet to be seen LIVE, as opposed to pictorially; those are a few of mine. These are insane, exquisitely tweaked machines engineered by a total washer lover, just like everyone here, the stuff of little washer boys dreams. If one of these ever turned up, I would actually go berserk with joy, shrieking with delight and dancing with abandon.

...had a good giggle at your most serious comment. I guess I'm not quite a washer freak, but love watching the tub fill and the agitator move..and no wash needed to get me interested. No suds..which all sounds souless or pointless, but at least I admitted the secret...maybe one day:

My mom's had a wringer - mid to late 50's (I was the "little" assistant). Where would this spray rinse feature be installed...above the roller, mounted to the side? Would it have a rotating nozzle for spray and an alternate "fill" position. Interesting.
